ANDOVER, N.H.—First-year
Camryn Knowlton (Montreal, Quebec) came in second and four Babson College skiers finished among the top six as the Beavers recorded their first victory of the season in the slalom at Proctor Ski Area on Saturday afternoon.
Babson's top three competitors finished 2.23 seconds ahead of second-place Castleton, which had opened the season with three consecutive victories. UConn and UMass finished third and fourth, respectively.
Knowlton recorded the first podium finish of her career by coming in second with a two-run time of 1:41.79. Senior
Amelie Alkier (Collingwood, Ontario) finished just 0.96 seconds behind her in fourth place, while classmate
Alli Messier (Sherborn, Mass.) placed fifth with a time of 1:45.75.
Sophomore
Riley Jerome (Bethel, Maine) posted her top result of the season by coming in sixth with a two-run time of 1:46.92, and classmate
Ava Butler (Goshen, Conn.) crossed the finish line in 1:49.57 to place 11th.
Babson returns to action next Friday when it travels to Lake Placid, N.Y., for two days of giant slalom races at Whiteface Mountain.
