Alpine Ski Teams Travel to Proctor Ski Area for Slalom Races on Friday and Saturday

WHAT TO KNOW

•    The Babson men's and women's alpine ski teams travel to Andover, N.H., for the second weekend of MacConnell Division competition at Proctor Ski Area. 
•    The Beavers and their league rivals will compete in the slalom on both Friday and Saturday. 

LAST SEASON AT PROCTOR
•    The Babson women recorded a pair of first-place finishes and the Babson won the second of two slalom races at Proctor Ski Area on January 12-13, 2024. 
•    Caroline Haajier '24 finished atop the podium in the opening race, sophomore Julia Wiacek recorded a pair of top-four results and classmate Sonnie Travis and senior Amelie Alkier placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the second race of the weekend for the Babson women. 
•    After placing third in the opening slalom, Max Bellino (4th), Ryan Beardsley '24 (5th), junior Sebastian Sheppard (7th) and senior Zach Carpenter (9th) all recorded top-10 finishes to lead the Babson men to the win on day two of the carnival. 

ABOUT THE BABSON MEN
•    The Beavers opened the season with first-place finishes in the slalom last Sunday and the giant slalom on Monday. 
•    Sophomore Mads Fondevik Syversen finished first in the slalom and fourth in the GS, while junior Elliott Perretta followed up his fifth-place result in the slalom by finishing atop the podium in the GS in their Babson debuts. 
•    First-year James Rosenbloom recorded a pair of top-10 finishes coming in third in the GS and eighth in the slalom, classmate Connor Roy finished sixth in the slalom in his collegiate debut and fellow rookie Moksh Patel placed 11th in the GS and 13th in the slalom. 

ABOUT THE BABSON WOMEN
•    The Beavers opened the year with a pair of runner-up finishes at Okemo Mountain. 
•    Wiacek came in fourth in the slalom and seventh in the giant slalom, first-year Camryn Knowlton followed up a 10th-place showing in the slalom by placing fifth in the GS and Travis finished ninth in both races. 
•    Alkier came in 10th in the GS after finishing 13th in the slalom and sophomore Riley Jerome and senior Alli Messier finished 14th and 15th, respectively, in last Sunday's slalom. 

WHAT TO KNOW
•    The Babson women have won four consecutive slalom races and boast six straight top-two finishes at Proctor. 
•    In addition to last year's victory, the Babson men also own four runner-up finishes in their last six races at Proctor. 
•    Alkier owns two top-10 finishes, Messier has recorded a pair of top-15 results and Carpenter has three top-10 and another top-15 showing in four races at Proctor. 

UP NEXT
•    The Beavers head to Lake Placid, N.Y., for a pair of giant slalom races at Whiteface Mountain on January 24-25.
