LUDLOW, Vt.—First-year
Camryn Knowlton (Montreal, Quebec) came in fifth among MacConnell Division competitors to help the Babson College women's alpine ski team place second in the giant slalom on Monday afternoon at Okemo Mountain.
The Beavers' top three finishers finished a little more than two seconds behind Castleton, which picked up its second victory in as many races to start the season. Clarkson came in third behind Babson for the second race in a row.
Knowlton posted a two-run time of 2:39.62, which was just over a second ahead of sophomore
Jullia Wiacek (Little Neck, N.Y.), who came in seventh after crossing the finish line in 2:40.79. Fellow sophomore
Sonnie Travis (Park City, Utah) placed ninth with a time of 2:41.75 and senior
Amelie Alkier (Collingwood, Ontario) finished in 10th position with a time of 2:43.39.
Senior
Alli Messier (Sherborn, Mass.) came in 16th in a time of 2:51.37, while sophomore
Riley Jerome (Bethel, Maine) finished 19th with a time of 2:56.22.
Babson is back in action on Friday and Saturday when it travels to Proctor Ski Area in Andover, N.H., for a pair of slalom races.
