LUDLOW, Vt.—Sophomore
Julia Wiacek (Little Neck, N.Y.) finished fourth among MacConnell Division competitors to help the Babson College women's alpine ski team open the season with a runner-up finish in the slalom at Okemo Mountain on Sunday afternoon.
Three Beavers recorded top-10 results as the team finished just over eight seconds behind first-place Castleton. Clarkson was more than 10 seconds behind the Green and White in third place.
Wiacek put together a pair of solid runs to grab a spot on the podium with her two-run time of 1:37.42, which was less than two seconds behind Lola Ribe Mozun of Saint Michael's. Sophomore
Sonnie Travis (Park City, Utah) finished ninth with a time of 1:42.24, while first-year
Camryn Knowlton (Montreal, Quebec) came in 10th with a time of 1:42.79.

Amelie Alkier (Collingwood, Ontario) finished 13th with a two-run time 1:43.69 and sophomore
Riley Jerome (Bethel, Maine) was less than a second behind her in 14th position with a time of 1:44.23. Senior
Alli Messier (Sherborn, Mass.) placed 15th in a time of 1:47.28, while sophomore
Ava Butler (Goshen, Conn.) crossed the finish line in 1:49.68 to finish 21st.
Babson will conclude the opening weekend of the season with the giant slalom at Okemo on Monday at 9 a.m.
