Men's Basketball Travels to Wheaton for Key NEWMAC Road Test on Wednesday

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 42-14 all-time against Wheaton in a series that dates back to the 1989-90 season. 
•    The Beavers have won 23 of their last 26 games against the Lyons going back to 2011. 
•    The Green and White has won four straight and is 13-1 over its last 14 games inside Emerson Gymnasium since the 2009 NEWMAC Tournament. 

LAST MEETING
•    Junior Nate Amado poured in 29 points to go along with eight rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals to lead the Beavers to a 76-65 win over Wheaton on January 11 in Babson Park. 
•    Sophomore Jeremiah Paul scored 10 points and senior John Gorgol contributed six points, a career-high 11 rebounds and four assists for Babson, which started the game with a 10-0 run and led 33-10 with just over six minutes to play in the first half. 
•    Ty Murphy knocked down seven three-pointers and scored 22 of his game-high 30 points in the second half for the Lyons, who got as close as five with 12:06 remaining in the second half. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (11-11, 7-6 NEWMAC) has won three consecutive games after routing Springfield 67-44 on Saturday afternoon. 
•    Graduate student Steph Baxter scored a game-high 19 points, sophomore Timmy O'Toole added 13 points and 11 rebounds and junior David Cross totaled 12 points for the Beavers, who turned 17 Pride turnovers into 24 points. 
•    Amado (20.2 pts, 6.8 reb, 1.2 blk) ranks first in the league in scoring, fourth in blocks and fifth in rebounding, Baxter (18.4 pts, 3.7 reb, 3.1 ast) is second in the NEWMAC in scoring and O'Toole (8.1 pts, 8.5 reb) is third in the league with 53 offensive boards. 
•    The Green and White ranks first in conference play in three-point field goal defense (29.5 percent) and offensive rebounds per game (12.8), and third in scoring defense allowing 67.3 points. 
 
SCOUTING THE LYONS
•    Wheaton (12-8, 6-6 NEWMAC) has won three of its last four games and is coming off a 65-48 victory at Salve Regina on Saturday. 
•    Sal Pedevillano scored 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting and Eoin Morrissey added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Lyons, who led 29-22 at halftime and held the Seahawks to just 27.1 percent shooting. 
•    Murphy (13.6 pts, 2.7 reb) is just 6-of-22 from deep over his last four outings, Tristan Herry (10.9 pts, 3.6 reb, 2.4 ast) has scored in double figures four times over the last seven games and Dimetri Iafrate (8.7 pts, 4.6 reb, 2.6 ast, 2.4 stl) leads the conference in steals and has reached double figures in scoring six times in the last seven contests. 
•    Wheaton ranks third in league play in rebounding margin (+3.3) and fourth in opponent field goal percentage (40.3) and scoring defense (67.5 points). 

O'TOOLE EARNS NEWMAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK RECOGNITION
•    After posting a pair of double-doubles and averaging 10.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 block in wins over MIT and Springfield, O'Toole collected conference defensive player of the week accolades for the second time this season on Monday. 

CLEANING THE GLASS
•    The Beavers have outrebounded each of their last four opponents and boast a rebounding margin of +5.2 during this stretch. 
•    Babson owns an offensive rebounding rate of 39.8 percent over this four-game stretch and is averaging 15.3 second-chance points per game. 

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    Babson has scored 22 or more points off of turnovers in three straight games. 
•    O'Toole, who has back-to-back double-doubles, has grabbed at least five offensive boards and 10 or more total rebounds in four consecutive games. 
•    Baxter has put up at least 15 points in 16 of his last 17 games. 
•    Sophomore Tyler Lauder has finished with two or more offensive boards in each of the last four contests. 

POSTSEASON PUSH
•    Babson, which is currently in third place a half-game ahead of Wheaton, enters its final three games needing one more win or a loss by Springfield to secure one of six spots in the upcoming conference tournament. 
•    A victory over the Lyons and a win over either Salve Regina on Saturday or Coast Guard on February 17 would second the third or fourth seed and a home game in the NEWMAC quarterfinals. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers have won their last two and are now 14-7 in NEWMAC road games over the last three seasons.
•    Babson is 10-2 this winter when winning the rebounding battle.
•    The Beavers are 9-4 on the year when scoring at least 70 points. 
•    The Green and White is 9-3 this season when shooting at least 40 percent.
