Men's Basketball Opens Home Slate on Saturday Against UMass Dartmouth

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 2-7 all-time against UMass Dartmouth in a series that dates all the way back to the 1955-56 campaign. 
•    Saturday's matchup will be the first between the Beavers and Corsairs in 35 years. 
•    The teams met seven times from 1955-59 when UMass Dartmouth was called Bradford Durfee College of Technology and the last time the programs met it was known as  Southeastern Massachusetts University. 

LAST MEETING
•    UMass Dartmouth defeated the Beavers 99-84 in the championship game of the Babson Invitational Tournament on November 18, 1989, in Babson Park. 
•    Bevin Ingram poured in 24 points and Robert Williams added 21 points, six steals and four assists to lead five players in double figures for the Corsairs, who outscored Babson 55-34 in the second half. 
•    Derik Malone '92 scored 23 points to go along with eight rebounds and four assists, while Marc Holtenhoff '91 and Woody Hines '90 chipped in with 16 and 15 points, respectively, for the Beavers. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (1-2) is coming off a 79-66 loss at Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Wednesday night. 
•    Senior Nate Amado registered 21 points, nine rebounds and three assists, first-year Timmy Mulvey had 17 points and five rebounds and graduate student Felix Kloman added 15 points and three blocks for the Beavers, who shot 48.4 percent and led by as many as six in the first half. 
•    Kloman is averaging 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.7 blocks, Mulvey (17.3 pts, 3.3 ast) is shooting 56.7 percent from the floor and 63.6 percent from beyond the arc, and Amado (16.0 pts, 10.3 reb, 4.7 ast) leads the team in both rebounds and assists.
•    The Green and White is averaging 71.3 points on 44.4 percent shooting and has outrebounded each of its first three foes. 

SCOUTING THE CORSAIRS
•    UMass Dartmouth (1-3) followed up its first win of the season with an 80-74 loss to WPI on Tuesday night. 
•    Josh Lopes scored 16 points, Ryan Flauto posted a double-double with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting to go along with 10 rebounds and Camden DiChiara chipped in with 13 points off the bench for the Corsairs, who trailed by as many as 14 twice in the second half and finished just 4-of-20 (20 percent) from three-point range in the loss. 
•    Lopes is averaging 16.5 points, 3.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds, Isaac Percy (12.5 pts, 3.8 reb) is shooting 59.4 percent from the floor and 50 percent from beyond the arc, and John Marcille (11.3 pts, 5.5 reb) has scored in double figures three times and is second on the team in rebounds. 
•    UMass Dartmouth is averaging 77.5 points on 46 percent shooting but has allowed at least 73 points in each of its first four games. 

DEEP THREAT
•    Mulvey ranks second in Division III in three-pointers per game (4.67) and 11th in three-point percentage (63.6) through his first three games. 
•    He knocked down his first four triples in Wednesday's loss at Saint Joseph and has scored at least 14 points while making four or more three-pointers in each of the Beavers' first three outings. 

MOVING UP THE CHARTS
•    Amado, who became the 29th player in Babson history to surpass 1,000 points in last year's NEWMAC Tournament final win over Clark, is now tied with CJ Enere '05 for 23rd place on the all-time scoring list with 1,086 points. 
•    Amado is up to sixth place all-time with 66 blocked shots and also is just 19 rebounds away from becoming just the 12th place in program history with more than 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. 

EFFICIENT ON OFFENSE
•    Over its first three games, the Green and White is averaging 1.07 points per possession and shooting 54.2 percent on two-point field goal attempts. 
•    The Beavers are committing a turnover on just 15.5 percent of their possessions and own an offensive rebound rate of 31.3 percent, which they've turned into 34 second-chance points over their first three outings. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are averaging 6.0 blocked shots per game but have forced a total of just 20 turnovers through three games. 
•    Babson has assisted on 54.2 percent of its made field goals this season.
•    The Green and White allowed 60 points in its win over Ithaca on November 10 but has given up 83.5 points on 50 percent shooting in two losses. 
•    Since the start of the 2021-22 campaign, the Beavers are 26-3 when holding their opponents below 40 percent shooting.
