Box Score BRUNSWICK, Maine—The Babson College women's tennis squad wrapped up the full-team portion of their fall schedule at the Bowdoin Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday Highlights
Senior
Olivia Soffer (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and junior
Matia Cristiani (San Salvador, El Salvador) defeated Caroline Stuhlfaut and Jamilah Karah of Bowdoin 7-6 (7-2) for the Beavers' lone doubles win were among five players to go unbeaten on the day in singles. Soffer downed Nancy Zhang of Brandeis 6-4, 6-3, while Cristiani beat Chahana Budhbhatti of Brandeis 6-3, 6-1 and followed it up with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Jade Finestone of Colby.
Sophomore
Chaniel Soffer (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) topped Sabrina Loui of Brandeis 6-2, 6-0 and rallied for a 5-7, 7-6 (7-6), 10-5 win over Michaela Landry of Colby, while first-year
Alessandra Cristiani (San Salvador, El Salvador) posted a 5-7, 6-3, 10-5 victory over Brandeis' Marie Reyes and then cruised past Anna Rende of Colby, 6-3, 6-3. Sophomore
Dana Kamal (Cairo, Egypt) defeated Sanjana Kumar of Brandeis, 6-1, 6-3, and was a 7-5, 6-2 winner over Amelie Gal of Colby.
First-year
Sarai Dorismond (Carlsbad, Calif.) rallied for a 6-7, 6-2, 10-7 win over Lika Bokvadze of Brandeis, while sophomore
Riya Matharoo (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) breezed past Waka Aida of Colby, 6-4, 6-2. Junior
Shyla Khattar (New Delhi, India) and classmate
Elena Keitt (Austin, Texas) also recorded victories in their only matches of the day. Khattar beat Kendall Skulley of Colby 8-6 and Keitt edged the Mules' Abby Hess 8-7 (8-6).
Sunday Highlights
Babson won six of eight doubles matches, which included a pair of victories apiece by Dorismond and
Alessandra Cristiani and Matharoo and junior
Grace Starcher (Morristown, N.J.). Dorismond and Cristiani opened the day with a 6-3 triumph over Gal and Aida of Colby before downing Loui and Bhakti Parwani of Brandeis, 7-5. Starcher and Matharoo edged Skulley and Hess of Colby 7-5 and followed it up with a 6-4 win over Budhbhatti and Cecilia Denis of Brandeis.
Olivia Soffer and
Matia Cristiani defeated Landry and Bella Suk of Colby in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-2), while Keitt and Khattar topped Bolkvadze and Kumar of Brandeis, 6-4.
The Beavers also recorded a pair of singles wins against Bowdoin as
Matia Cristiani was a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victor over Stuhlfaut, while Khattar beat Phoebe Thorne 7-5.
Olivia Soffer will be in action at the ITA Cup beginning on Thursday in Rome, Ga., while Babson will begin dual match play against Brandeis on March 8.
