Men's Hoops Welcomes MIT to Staake Gymnasium on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 60-25 all-time against MIT in a series that dates back to the 1978-79 campaign. 
•    The Beavers have won five in a row overall and three straight games at home against the Engineers. 
•    Nine of the last 13 games between the teams have been decided by seven points or less or in OT going back to January 2017. 

LAST MEETING
•    Sophomore Mark Woolhouse led five players in double figures with a career-high 18 points and the Beavers shot a blistering 57.1 percent on the way to defeating MIT, 92-57, on February 18, 2023, in Babson Park. 
•    Andrew Kirkpatrick '23 had 15 points, Aidan Horan scored a career-best 14 points on 6-of-6 shooting and sophomore Tyler Lauder and Ryan Cibull M'23 chipped in with 10 points apiece for Babson, which led 45-20 at the half. 
•    Tim Minicozzi scored 18 points, while Spencer Lin and Rome Delgado-Gonzalez both finished with 17 for the Engineers. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (5-7, 1-2 NEWMAC) has dropped its last four games and suffered a 66-52 loss to Clark on Wednesday night. 
•    Junior Nate Amado posted a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds and graduate student Steph Baxter finished with 16 points for the Beavers, who led 47-46 with 5:35 to go before getting outscored 20-5 down the stretch. 
•    Amado (21.2 pts, 6.8 reb) leads the conference in scoring and has put up at least 10 points in 15 straight games, Baxter (19.6 pts, 3.4 reb, 3.3 ast) is shooting 46.6 percent from the floor and sophomore Timmy O'Toole (7.7 ps, 7.5 reb) ranks fourth in the league in rebounding. 
•    The Green and White ranks third in the conference in adjusted offense but has shot just 35.3 percent over its last four outings. 
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     
SCOUTING THE ENGINEERS
•    MIT (2-10, 1-2 NEWMAC) has dropped three straight games after suffering an 85-73 loss to Salve Regina on Wednesday night. 
•    Minicozzi and Mike Ewing both scored 12 points, Lin finished with 11 and Michael Zhang chipped in with 10 points for the Engineers, who matched their season high with 14 three-pointers and shots 42.4 percent from beyond the arc.
•    Merlin Goglin (11.1 pts, 5.7 reb) has scored in double figures eight times on the year, Will Bland (10.8 pts, 4.1 ast) is shooting 49.4 percent and Lin (10.8 pts, 6.2 reb, 3.9 ast) leads the team in both rebounds and assists. 
•    MIT is shooting 42.6 percent from the floor and 36.6 percent from deep but is giving 87.1 points per game this winter. 

PRODUCING AGAINST THE ENGINEERS
•    Junior David Cross scored 10 points in Babson's 62-52 OT win over MIT in Cambridge last January and averaged 8.5 points and 2.0 steals in the two games between the teams last season, while Lauder shot 72.7 percent (8-of-11) and averaged 9.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in two wins over the Engineers last winter. 
•    Additionally, O'Toole contributed 6.6 points, 10.5 boards and 4.5 steals in last year's games versus MIT. 

WELCOME BACK
•    Junior Parker Mason, who has battled injuries over the last two seasons, saw his first action in nearly 13 months on Wednesday night against Clark. 
•    Mason, who last played against Brandeis on December 8, 2022, went 0-of-1 from the floor with two rebounds and one blocked shot in four minutes in the loss to the Cougars. 

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    Baxter has scored at least 16 points in 10 consecutive games and has at least one steal in nine straight outings. 
•    Senior John Gorgol has connected on at least one three-pointer in each of his last 10 contests. 
•    Amado has posted back-to-back double-doubles for the first time in his career. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers are 5-1 this season when leading at halftime.
•    Babson has shot at least 40 percent in each of its five wins this winter.
•    The Green and White is 5-1 this season and 30-3 over the last three years when outrebounding its opponents. 
•    The Beavers are 4-2 on the year when at least three players score in double figures.
