SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 61-27 all-time against Coast Guard in a series that dates back to the 1972-73 season.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (7-9, 3-4 NEWMAC) has dropped two of its last three games after enduring a cold-shooting night in Tuesday's 68-38 loss at Salve Regina.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
• Coast Guard (11-5, 4-3 NEWMAC) has now won three of its last four games after defeating Wheaton, 71-68, on Tuesday night.
• Rooney scored 21 points and went 13-of-14 at the free throw line and Mitch Shettles added 16 points for the Bears, who trailed by as many as 18 late in the first half and took their first lead of the game at 65-64 on a three-pointer by Trevor Parks with 2:32 remaining.
• Shettles (13.2 pts, 4.4 reb) is shooting 46.9 percent and has scored in double figures in five straight contests, Rooney (12.1 pts, 3.8 reb) has made 10 three-pointers over the last five games and Elijah Parent (9.7 pts, 2.9 ast) is shooting 60.9 percent on two-point field goal attempts this winter.
• Coast Guard ranks first in the conference in three-point field goals per game (9.8), second in scoring offense (74.1 points) and third in field goal percentage (43.5).
BOUNCE BACK SPOT
• Tuesday's setback at Salve Regina marked just the fourth time over the last 20 years that Babson has suffered a loss by 30 points or more.
• The Green and White responded with a victory over Wheaton last Thursday after losing 90-54 at Springfield two days earlier and also defeated the Lyons following a 31-point loss at nationally-ranked WPI in January 2022.
DEPLETED BEAVERS
• The Green and white played without three starters – Baxter, O'Toole and senior
John Gorgol – on Tuesday night and have started their opening-night lineup just once since returning from the holiday break back on December 29.
NEWMAC PLAY REACHES MIDWAY POINT
• Despite its recent struggles, the Beavers enter the night tied for fifth place with Wheaton at 3-4 in league play.
• No. 23 Clark sits in first place at 7-0, one-game ahead of second-place WPI (6-1), both Coast Guard and Salve Regina are tied for third at 4-3, and Springfield (2-5) and Emerson (2-6) are currently on the outside looking in with the top six teams qualifying for the NEWMAC Tournament beginning February 20.
