Women's Soccer Takes on Brandeis in Home Opener on Tuesday

SERIES HISTORY
  • Babson is 18-24-4 all-time against Brandeis in a series that dates back to 1981.
  • The Beavers registered their first win in the series since 2009 last season and are unbeaten in their last two matches against the Judges. 
  • Prior to the 1-1 2OT draw in 2021, the two previous matches played at Hartwell-Rogers Field were decided in the 90th minute or later. 
  • Babson's 46 games against Brandeis are the most in program history against a non-conference opponent.
LAST MEETING
  • Morgan Fedosiewich '23 stopped a first-half penalty kick and senior Natalie Knauf scored the go-ahead goal in the 83rd minute as Babson defeated Brandeis, 4-3, on September 7, 2022, in Waltham, Mass.
  • Izzy Lynch M'23 scored twice and graduate student Morgan Krauss added a goal and an assist for the Beavers, who went in front 3-1 in the 69th minute. 
  • Caroline Swan and Makenna Hunt both had a goal and an assist for the Judges and scored nine minutes apart late in the second half to tie the game in the 81st minute. 
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
  • Babson (0-1-1) opened the season with a 1-1 draw at Johnson & Wales on Friday afternoon. 
  • Krauss scored in the 14th minute and junior Nora Ryan and first-year Callahan Cottone combined to make 10 saves for the Beavers, who were outshot 12-3 in the second half by the Wildcats. 
  • The Green and White returns seven starters and 21 players in all from a team that went 14-4-1 a season ago. 
  • Junior Elisa Diletizia (7-2-16) tied for the team lead in goals, Krauss and Knauf both scored five times and combined for 26 points, and junior Jordyn Ferrantino (4-3-11) led the squad with four game-winning markers. 
SCOUTING THE JUDGES
  • Brandeis (1-0-1) followed up a 1-1 draw with 18th-ranked MIT on Friday by defeating Fitchburg State, 2-0, on Sunday. 
  • Senior Sydney Lenhart scored less than 90 seconds into the second half and Elspeth Harker added her second goal in as many matches in the 66th minute for the Judges, who outshot the Falcons 45-0 in the victory. 
  • Lenhart produced five goals and one assist for 11 points and is the team's top returning scorer, while senior Yasla Ngoma scored three times last year for Brandeis, which posted a 7-8-2 record in 2022. 
  • Hannah Bassan, who has started both matches this season, went 4-6-1 with a 1.60 goals against average and a  .709 save percentage in 11 contests last season.
WINNING WAYS
  • The Beavers have finished .500 or better in 17 of the last 18 seasons going back to 2004, posting at least nine victories in all 17 campaigns. 
  • Babson's 14 wins in 2022 were its most since finishing 14-4-5 in 2015 on the way to earning the program's first NCAA Tournament berth.
  • Last year's 14 victories also were tied for the third most in program history behind only the 1992 squad that went 18-1-1 and the 1993 team that posted a 17-2-0 mark. 
POLL POSITION
  • The Beavers were picked to finish third in the NEWMAC preseason coaches' poll, which was released in late August. 
  • Babson totaled 102 points to finish behind only defending regular season champions MIT (110) and reigning NEWMAC Tournament champions Emerson (106). 
RIGHT AT HOME
  • The Green and White went 7-2 at Hartwell-Rogers Field last fall with its lone losses coming to Bowdoin and Springfield. 
  • The Beavers are 14-3-3 at home going back to the start of the 2021 campaign and have posted 12 shutouts in 20 matches. 
NUMBERS TO KNOW
  • The Beavers are 22-2-7 when conceding one goal or fewer since the start of the 2021 season. 
  • Babson is unbeaten over its last 19 matches when scoring first, a streak that dates back to 2021. 
  • The Green and White has trailed at halftime just once over its last 27 matches going back to October 9, 2021.
