Women's Soccer Hosts Wellesley Saturday, Travels to Bowdoin on Sunday

WHAT TO KNOW

•    After playing just twice over a 14-day stretch, the Babson women's soccer team will play games on back-to-back days for the second time this season when they host Wellesley on Saturday before traveling to Maine to face Bowdoin on Sunday. 
 
SERIES HISTORY
vs. Wellesley

•    Babson is 22-19-9 all-time against the Blue in a series that dates back to 1982. 
•    The Beavers are unbeaten over their last five matches against Wellesley (3-0-2) and have lost just once over the last nine contests between the teams since 2013. 
•    The Green and White has earned a result in four straight games against the Blue at home going back to 2015. 
•    Babson picked up a 2-1 road win over Wellesley in last year's matchup on October 19. 
 
vs. Bowdoin
•    Babson is 3-25-5 all-time against the Polar Bears in a series that dates back to 1985.
•    Two of the Beavers' victories in the all-time series have come since 2015. 
•    Six of the last 10 meetings between the sides have been decided by a single goal or ended in a draw. 
•    The Green and White, which the match at 8-0, suffered a 2-0 loss to the Polar Bears on October 1 of last year. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (4-2-1, 2-0-0 NEWMAC) enters the weekend riding a three-game winning streak after downing Coast Guard 2-0 last Saturday. 
•    Graduate student Morgan Krauss scored 1:41 into the match and sophomore Izzy DeMatos notched her first goal of the season in the 14th minute for the Beavers, who outshot the Bears 31-8 on the day. 
•    Krauss (3-2-8) leads the team in both goals and assists, senior Olivia Maltbie (2-0-4) has scored a pair of game-winning goals and junior Jordyn Ferrantino (2-0-4) has a marker in two of Babson's first three home games. 
•    First-year Callahan Cottone has started all seven games and boasts a 0.77 goals against average and a .884 save percentage to go along with four shutouts. 

SCOUTING THE BLUE
•    Wellesley (2-3-1, 1-1-0 NEWMAC) is coming off a 0-0 draw against Curry on Wednesday afternoon. 
•    Sascha Fleesler made three first-half saves and Riley McNair stopped five shots in the second half for the Blue, which recoded its second consecutive shutout. 
•     Thea Feldgoise (2-1-5) scored both her goals in the season-opening win over Simmons, Elina Saab-Sunden (2-0-4) tallied twice in last Saturday's victory over Wheaton and Cindy Zeng (1-1-3) is one of four players to record an assist this fall. 
•    Fleesler (1-2-0), who has started five of six games, and McNair (1-1-1) have combined to post a 1.00 goals against average and a .842 save percentage on the year. 

SCOUTING THE POLAR BEARS
•    Bowdoin (4-2-2) has dropped two of its last three games and is coming off a 2-0 setback at No. 11 Williams last Sunday. 
•    Charlotte Iannone made a career-high 10 saves for the Polar Bears, who conceded a first-half penalty kick and were outshot 17-10 by the Ephs. 
•    Stephanie Christianson (1-1-3), Samaya Bernardo (1-0-2), Morgan Smiley (1-0-2) and Nina Hashimoto (1-0-2) each have a game-winning goal to lead a balanced attack that has seen seven different players produce a goal. 
•    Iannone has started all eight matches and boasts a 0.63 goals against average and a .861 save percentage to go along with four clean sheets. 

LUKOWICZ EARNS CONFERENCE RECOGNITION
•    Junior Laura Lukowicz was selected as the NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after spearheading a defense that blanked both Endicott (1-0) and Coast Guard (2-0) last week. 
•    The Beavers held a Gulls squad that came into the match averaging nearly three goals a game to just five shots on goal and limited the Bears to a season-low three shots on frame to stay unbeaten in league play. 

PROVIDING THE POINTS
•    Krauss enters the weekend with points in three straight games, which includes having a hand in the opening marker in each of her last two outings. 
•    She assisted on Ferrantino's 19th-minute goal in the 1-0 win over Endicott before scoring in the second minute against Coast Guard last Saturday.  

STREAKING BEAVERS
•    Babson enters Saturday's match against Wellesley riding a seven-game regular-season winning streak versus NEWMAC foes that dates back to October 15 of last year. 
•    The Green and White has recorded three straight shutouts while outscoring its opponents 16-2 during this stretch. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers have scored the opening goal in all seven matches this season while outscoring their opponents 8-2 in the first half. 
•    Babson is 4-0-1 on the year and has lost just once over its last 35 games when conceding one goal or fewer. 
•    The Green and White is 14-3-5 over its last 22 NEWMAC fixtures going back to October 9, 2021. 
•    The Beavers are 17-5-3 at home since 2021 and have gone 9-1-4 over their last 14 road games ahead of Sunday's showdown at Bowdoin.
