Women’s Soccer Hosts Coast Guard for NEWMAC Game on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 19-2-2 all-time against Coast Guard in a series that dates back to 2000.
• The Beavers have won four straight games in the series and have lost just once to the Bears over the last 19 matches between the sides going back to 2004.
• Three of the last five games between Babson and Coast Guard have been decided by a single goal.

LAST MEETING
• No. 10/12 Babson scored three goals in just over 13 minutes early in the second half on the way to a 3-0 win over the Coast Guard on September 24, 2022, at Nitchman Field in New London, Conn.
• Graduate student Morgan Krauss and seniors Olivia Maltbie and Natalie Knauf each had a goal, while Izzy Lynch '23M, junior Jordyn Ferrantino and sophomore Meredith Greeley all picked up an assist for the Beavers. Morgan Fedosiewich '23 finished with five saves for her sixth clean sheet in eight starts.
• Junior Emily Scharnitzky finished with eight saves in a losing effort for the Bears.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (3-2-1, 1-0-0 NEWMAC) is looking to keep the ball rolling after back-to-back shutouts over Wheaton (3-0) on Sunday and Endicott (1-0) on Wednesday.
• Ferrantino scored the only goal of the match in the 19th minute in the win over Endicott after Krauss, Maltbie and senior Cassie Lawson scored for the Beavers in the NEWMAC victory against Wheaton. Krauss and junior Laura Lukowicz registered one assist each in the games and first-year keeper Callahan Cottone combined for nine saves in the two clean sheets.
• Krauss (2-2-6) is the team scoring leader and Maltbie (2-0-4) and Ferrantino (2-0-4) are also multi-goal scorers. Greeley and Lawson each have scored one goal on the season.
• Cottone (0.91 GAA, .875 sv pct) ranks second in the NEWMAC in save percentage, fourth in goals against average, and third with three shutouts.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
• Coast Guard (1-6-0, 0-1-0) has dropped its last six games after a season-opening win over the Merchant Marine Academy.
• Sophomore Mary Kate Hunyh scored lone goal for the Bears in a 3-1 loss to Eastern Connecticut on Monday. Coast Guard outshot the Warriors 19-10, including 15-6 in the second half. Junior Emily Scharnitzky made three saves in goal in the setback.
• Seniors Chase Merrick (2-0-4) and Sidney Palinkas (2-0-4) and sophomore Mia Forte (2-0-4) share the team scoring lead. Karagan Bulger (0-3-3) tops the squad in assists.
• Scharnitzky (2.29 GAA, .644 sv pct) has started in goal in all seven games and has made 29 saves.

NEWMAC NOTES
• Babson is 13-3-5 in its last 21 games against NEWMAC foes dating back to 2021, including the post-season.
• The Beavers are 49-4-3 when scoring at least two goals in NEWMAC games dating back to Sept. 18, 2012.
• The Green and White were picked third in this season's preseason NEWMAC coaches' poll while Coast Guard was voted to finish eighth in the 12-team league.

THREE IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
• Babson's three goals at Wheaton on Sunday marks the team's highest output since October 15 of last season when it beat Mount Holyoke 4-0. 
• Going back to 2002, the Beavers have won 86 of 87 matches when scoring at least three times with the lone blemish coming in a 4-3 loss at Coast Guard during the 2018 campaign. 

COMFORTS OF HOME
• The Green and White are at Hartwell-Rogers Field for just the second time in seven matches to start the season following Wednesday's home win over Endicott.
• Babson is 15-5-3 on home field since the start of the 2021 campaign.

BEAVER BITES
• Babson has scored the first goal of the game in all six outings this season.
• The Beavers have posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time since recording five straight clean sheets last season from September 10-24.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• Babson is 15-1-2 since the beginning of last season when conceding one goal or fewer.
• The Green and White are 29-2 when scoring at least two goals dating back to 2019.
• The Beavers are 53-1-4 since 2013 when leading at halftime.

• Babson wraps up a three-game home stand at Hartwell-Rogers Field next Saturday with a NEWMAC encounter against Wellesley, beginning at 1 p.m.
