Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass. -- First-year Mark Woolhouse (Lebanon, N.J.) and sophomore Aidan Horan (Orchard Park, N.Y.) combined for 29 points off the bench, leading five players in double figures as Babson College rolled to an 87-58 victory over the Coast Guard Academy in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's basketball action Wednesday evening inside Staake Gymnasium.
With the win, Babson captured its third straight victory and improved to 16-8 overall and 9-4 in conference play while Coast Guard dropped its ninth in a row and fell to 4-20 overall and 2-11 in the NEWMAC.
Woolhouse hit 7-of-9 shots and finished with a team-high 15 points and Horan converted 5-of-8 attempts for 14 points and added five boards. Graduate student Ryan Cibull (Alameda, Calif.) contributed 13 points, six rebounds and a season-high nine assists, senior Aaron Gao (Bridgewater, N.J.) chipped in with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting and classmate Andrew Kirkpatrick (Winnetka, Ill.) was good for 11 points.
Sophomore Declan Rooney (Seattle, Wash.) topped the Bears with 15 points and five assists and senior Jarrod Jackson (Carrollton, Ga.) produced 10 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Sophomore Bryce VanderWiere (Schoolcraft, Mich.) made 4-of-6 shots off the bench and finished with eight points and a team-high five rebounds.
After three ties and four lead changes in the first 10 minutes of the game, Babson ran off seven unanswered points to pull ahead, 21-15, keyed by baskets by Kirkpatrick and Gao. Coast Guard came back to within two points (25-23) after a three-pointer by Rooney with six and a half minutes to play before the Beavers answered with 13 straight points to open up a double-digit lead. Horan and Kirkpatrick sparked the rally with back-to-back threes, Cibull hit a pair of jumpers and Horan capped the surge with another triple to put the Beavers on top, 38-23, with three minutes to play.
VanderWiere drained a shot for Coast Guard to stop the streak and the teams traded baskets leading into the break with the Beavers leading, 42-27. Horan had 10 points in the half for Babson and Cibull recorded eight points and seven assists while VanderWiere paced the Bears with eight points.
The visitors scored six unanswered points early in the second half on a three-ball from Rooney and three free throws by first-year Trevor Parks (Oldsmar, Fla.). After Gao and first-year Mitchell Shettles (New Albany, Miss.) traded three-pointers, Babson went on an 11-point run to open up a 22-point advantage, 60-38. Cibull had five points in the spurt, Kirkpatrick knocked down a pair of jumpers and Woolhouse capped the run with a layup.
The Green and White got the lead up to 28 points (79-51) on a Woolhouse three-pointer with five and a half minutes to play and the Beavers coasted to the win the rest of the way.
Babson shot a season-high 56.1 percent from the field (37-66) and 40 percent (8-20) from beyond the arc, while holding Coast Guard to 40 percent shooting (20-25) and just 4-of-11 from long range. The Beavers had a 34-28 advantage on the glass.
Both teams wrap up the regular season with home games on Saturday at 1 p.m. as Babson hosts MIT and Coast Guard returns home to welcome Springfield.
GAME NOTES
 • The Beavers have won 21 of their last 22 games against the Bears, including 16 victories by double digits, and now has a 61-27 advantage in the all-time series against Coast Guard going back to the 1972-73 season.
 • Babson's bench outscored the Bears' bench 44-19, and all 10 Beavers who played got into the scoring column.
 • The 56.1 shooting percentage by Babson was the highest since converting 61.2 percent in a 104-65 win over Wheaton on January 15, 2022.
 • The Green and White have made at least seven treys in seven of their last eight outings and have made 40.2 percent from beyond the arc during this stretch.
