Men's Basketball Clashes with Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Wednesday Night

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 0-4 all-time against Saint Joseph in a series that dates back to 2021. 
•    Three of the Blue Jays' victories have come by double digits and the Beavers have dropped a pair of games at home in the series, which includes a 76-59 setback two seasons ago.

LAST MEETING
•    Ryan O'Neill scored 17 of his game-high 23 points in the second half Jaecee Martin contributed 13 points, six assists and three steals to help Saint Joseph defeat Babson, 77-56, on November 14, 2022, in West Hartford, Conn. 
•    Jalen Samuels also scored 13 points for the Blue Jays, who outscored the Beavers 25-4 over the game's final 12 minutes. 
•    Junior Nate Amado posted a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while junior Parker Mason hit four three-pointers and finished with 12 points for the Beavers, who led 43-37 with 17:39 to play in the contest. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    Babson (4-2) has won three straight games and is coming off a 77-53 victory at Bates on Sunday. 
•    Amado finished with 22 points and three steals and graduate student Steph Baxter scored 19 points to go along with seven rebounds and seven assists for the Beavers, who raced out to a 42-22 halftime lead. 
•    Amado (22.5 pts, 6.5 reb, 2.8 ast, 2.0 steals) is shooting 49.5 percent from the floor, Baxter (21.0 pts, 4.2 ast, 3.8 reb) is shooting a team-best 53.8 percent from behind the arc and sophomore Timmy O'Toole is contributing 7.7 points and team highs of 9.7 rebounds and 2.5 steals in six starts. 
•    The Green and White is averaging 79.3 points on 44.7 percent shooting while limiting its opponents to just 39.1 percent from the floor to start the year. 

SCOUTING THE BLUE JAYS
•    Saint Joseph (4-1) had its four-game winning streak snapped by Trinity in a 70-58 loss at UMass Dartmouth's Lafrance Hospitality Classic back on November 18. 
•    Tyree Mitchell scored 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting, Samuels added 14 points and nine rebounds and Friedrich Feldrappe chipped I with 11 points for the Blue Jays, who were outscored 25-5 at the free throw line by the Bantams. 
•    Samuels (18.2 pts, 6.0 reb) is shooting 56.7 percent from the floor, Lence Altenor (13.8 pts, 3.2 reb) has scored in double figures four times this season and Feldrappe (8.8 pts, 5.4 reb) is shooting 63.3 percent in five starts. 
•    Saint Joseph is averaging 73.0 points on 45.2 percent shooting and is forcing 17 turnovers per game. 

AMADO, O'TOOLE SWEEP WEEKLY HONORS
•    Amado averaged 24.0 points on 52.6 percent shooting and was selected as the NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, while O'Toole averaged 10.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks to earn his first defensive player of the week award. 
•    Amado (26 points, 10 rebounds) and O'Toole (17 points, 15 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles in last Wednesday's 78-65 win over Brandeis, and are the second and third players to earn conference player of the week recognition after Baxter was tabbed as the league's offensive player of the week back on November 20. 

TWO-HEADED MONSTER
•    Amado and Baxter both rank among the top 50 in Division III in scoring and have accounted for 54.8 percent of Babson's scoring output over the first six games. 
•    Entering the week, Amado and Baxter are the second highest scoring tandem in the country behind only Kai Te Huki (26.2 points) and Gabe Garcia (23.8) of Grinnell (Iowa).

BEAVER BITES
•    O'Toole has at least one offensive rebound in each of his 33 career games, which includes finishing with four or more in four of six outings this season.
•    Sophomore Tyler Lauder is averaging 5.2 boards, good for third on the team, and has finished with five or more rebounds in every game this season.
•    Senior John Gorgol has made at least one three-pointer in four straight contests. 
•    Junior Aidan Horan finished with season highs of six rebounds and three steals to go along with eight points in Sunday's win at Bates.
•    Sophomore Mark Woolhouse blocked a season-best three shots in Sunday's victory. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers have won seven consecutive games at home and are 18-4 inside Staake Gymnasium since November 20, 2021. 
•    Babson is 4-0 this season and 83-9 going back to its national championship year of 2016-17 when outrebounding its foes.
•    The Green and White has hoisted more three-pointers than its opponents in five of its first six contests and is outscoring the opposition by 13.5 points per game from beyond the arc. 
•    The Beavers have scored at least 70 points in every game this year.
