LAKE PLACID, N.Y.—Junior Ryan Beardsley (Warren, Vt.) continued his strong start to the season with a fifth-place finish to help the Babson College men's alpine ski team come in second in the giant slalom at Whiteface Mountain on Saturday.
First-place Castleton won its fifth consecutive race by taking three of the top four spots on the individual leaderboard. The Beavers finished nearly three seconds ahead of Clarkson to post its fifth straight runner-up finish.
Beardsley recorded his fifth top-six finish of the year with a time of 1:46.65. First-year Max Bellino (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was five spots behind him in 10th place crossing the finish line in 1:47.65, while senior Jack Beney (Greenwich, Conn.) posted a time of 1:50.19 that was good for 13th position.
Junior Henness Hoffmann (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) came in 18th among MacConnell Division skiers with his time of 1:52.82 and classmate Kyle Goldberg (Manchester, N.H.) placed 21st in 1:53.78.
Babson returns to action next Saturday when it travels to West Mountain for back-to-back days of giant slalom races.
