WHAT TO KNOW
• The Babson men's and women's alpine ski teams return to upstate New York for the fourth of five MacConnell Division carnivals on Saturday and Sunday at West Mountain.
• The Beavers and their league rivals will compete in giant slalom races on both days.
LAST TIME AT WEST MOUNTAIN
• The Babson men finished atop the podium in both giant slalom races and the Babson women placed first and second in the GS at West Mountain on February 1-2, 2025.
• Senior
Elliot Perretta came in first and second in the two races, sophomore
James Rosenbloom finished third on back-to-back days and senior
Sebastian Sheppard placed ninth and 11th as the Beavers secured their first men's division title since 1993.
• Juniors
Julia Wiacek and
Sonnie Travis came in second and seventh, respectively, to help the Babson women record a first-place finish in the second race of the weekend, while sophomore
Camryn Knowlton came in fifth and eighth in the two races.
ABOUT THE BABSON MEN
• The Beavers extended their league winning streak to 16 races and are on the cusp of securing a second consecutive MacConnell Division title after finishing first in both the slalom and giant slalom last weekend at Whiteface Mountain.
• First-year
Niko Leunig recorded consecutive victories, first-year
Asher Baron (2nd) and Rosenbloom (5th) posted top-five results in the slalom, and Perretta and first-year
Ben Hostetter placed third and fourth, respectively, in the giant slalom.
• Leunig, who has won four of the last five races, has taken over first place in the MacConnell Division standings, Perretta has posted four podium finishes and is now second overall, and Baron enters the weekend in sixth place thanks to a pair of runner-up showings.
• Rosenbloom is currently seventh overall thanks to three top-five results, Hostetter (9th) has posted four top-10 finishes and sophomore
Connor Roy (11th) and first-year
Nick Heinrich (14th) give the Green and White half of the top 14 in the standings through six races.
ABOUT THE BABSON WOMEN
• The Beavers followed a third-place showing in the slalom by placing third in the GS last weekend at Whiteface.
• First-year
Quinn Dennehy came in third in the slalom and eighth in the giant slalom, Travis followed up a 10th-place result in the slalom by coming in fifth in the GS, and Knowlton placed 11th in the slalom and 10th in the giant slalom.
• Dennehy, who owns three podium finishes in six races, is currently third in the division standings, while Wiacek is fifth thanks to one win and one runner-up result.
• Travis (14th) has posted four top-10 showings, Knowlton (16th) has recorded four top-15 finishes and sophomore
Ava Butler (18th) owns three top-15 results and is the lone Babson competitor to complete two runs in every race this winter.
SUCCESS AT WEST
• Senior
Finn Horsley posted four top-20 finishes in the giant slalom over his first two seasons, while Sheppard has finished among the top 17 five times in five races over the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
• Travis recorded a pair of podium finishes in three GS races at West in 2024,
Riley Jerome has finished no worst than 17th in all five career races and Butler owns two top-10 results and five top-25 finishes in five races over the last two seasons.
WINNERS CIRCLE
• In addition to their 16 consecutive team victories over the last two seasons in MacConnell Division competition, a Babson skier has finished atop the podium in 12 of the last 16 men's races dating back to the start of last year.
• Leunig has won three straight races and has been first in both giant slalom competitions this season, while Perretta has finished first three times over the last two seasons.
• Junior
Mads Fondevik Syversen, who claimed the program's first slalom national title at last year's USCSA National Championships, has not competed yet this winter after coming in first five times in his seven MacConnell Division races in 2025.
UP NEXT
• The Beavers will conclude the regular season next weekend in New Hampshire when they travel to Pat's Peak for the slalom next Saturday and Waterville Valley for the giant slalom next Sunday.
