Perretta Finishes First Overall as Men's Alpine Skiing Places Second in Slalom, Combined Standings at USCSA Nationals

Three Record Top-10 Results in Slalom as Beavers Match Best Finish in School History

WILMINGTON, N.Y.—Sophomore Connor Roy (Wellesley, Mass.), classmate James Rosenbloom (Stowe, Vt.) and senior Elliot Perretta (Annecy, France) all recorded top-10 finishes in the slalom and Perretta finished first in the combined standings to highlight the final day of competition for the the Babson College men's alpine ski team at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championships on Friday afternoon at Whiteface Mountain.

The Beavers' top three skiers finished second behind Rocky Mountain by the slimmest of margins, just 0.01 seconds, to take second in the slalom for the second year in a row at nationals. Babson also finished as the runner-up in the combined standings for the second consecutive winter to match the best finish in program history, while Rocky Mountain captured its seventh national championship since 2011.

Roy posted two of the best runs of the day to come in fourth overall with a time of 1:31.10, while Rosenbloom and Perretta were separated by just 0.21 seconds. Rosenbloom moved up six spots in his final run to finish in sixth position with a time of 1:32.62, while Perretta placed seventh in a time of 1:32.83.

First-year Asher Baron (South Londonderry, Vt.) trimmed more than 15 seconds off his first-run time to come in 50th overall in the slalom with a time of 1:49.71.

Perretta, who was second in the giant slalom on Wednesday, is just the second Babson skier to finish first in the combined standings at nationals joining junior Mads Fondevik Syversen (Oslo, Norway), who achieved the feat just last season. Baron placed 24th in the combined standings, while Rosenbloom and first-year Ben Hostetter (Osterville, Mass.) were 47th and 50th, respectively.

RACE NOTES
•    Perretta, who earned All-America honors in the GS, slalom and combined for the second year in a row, is one of just four skiers in Babson history with at least six All-America awards.
•    Rosenbloom earned the fourth All-America honor of his career and second in as many years in the slalom.
•    The Beavers have finished in the top two in the slalom three times since 2018.
