Niko Leunig (Evergreen, Colo.) recorded his fourth victory of the season and senior
Elliot Perretta (Annecy, France) joined him on the podium as the Babson College men's alpine ski team won the giant slalom at Whiteface Mountain on Sunday afternoon.
The Beavers' top three competitors finished more than eight seconds ahead of second-place Clarkson, while Castleton and UConn placed third and fourth, respectively, for the second day in a row. The win is the 16th in a row in MacConnell Division competition for Babson.
Leunig, who has now won three consecutive league races, posted the best time in each run to finish first with a time of 2:06.52. Perretta came in third in a time of 2:08.75, while first-year
Ben Hostetter (Osterville, Mass.) was fourth overall with a time of 2:09.41.
Sophomore
James Rosenbloom (Stowe, Vt.) finished 11th with a two-run time of 2:13.35, while first-year
Nick Heinrich (East Burke, Vt.) crossed the finish line in a time of 2:15.20 to place 15th. Sophomore
Jett Sheppard (Park City, Utah) also came in 20th with a time of 2:19.79.
First-year
Asher Baron (South Londonderry, Vt.) and sophomore
Connor Roy (Wellesley, Mass.) were both among the top 10 after their first run but were unable to complete their second trip down the hill.
Babson is back in action next Saturday and Sunday when they travel to West Mountain in Queensbury, N.Y., for a pair of giant slalom races.
