QUEENSBURY, N.Y.—First-year
Niko Leunig (Evergreen, Colo.) won his fourth consecutive races and the Babson College men's alpine ski team posted five of the top six times to finish first in the giant slalom at West Mountain on Saturday afternoon.
The Beavers finished 5.43 seconds ahead of second-place Clarkson to win its 17th consecutive MacConnell Division race. With wins in all seven competitions this season, Babson can secure its second straight league title for the first time since 1993 on Sunday.
Leunig posted a two-run time of 2:07.40 to finish 1.03 seconds ahead of senior
Elliot Perretta (Annecy, France), who came in third. Sophomore
James Rosenbloom (Stowe, Vt.) finished fourth in a time of 2:08.62, first-year
Asher Baron (South Londonderry, Vt.) placed fifth in 2:09.00 and classmate
Ben Hostetter (Osterville, Mass.) was 0.96 seconds behind him in sixth position.
Sophomore
Connor Roy (Wellesley, Mass.) finished 10th in a time of 2:11.46 and senior
Finn Horsley (Salt Lake City, Utah) was exactly two seconds behind him in 16th place. Sophomore
Jett Sheppard (Park City, Utah) came in 22nd with a time of 2:16.33 and senior
Sebastian Sheppard (Park City, Utah) placed 30th, crossing the finish line in 2:19.20.
The Beavers return to West Mountain for another giant slalom race on Saturday at 10 a.m.
