WHAT TO KNOW
• The Babson men's and women's alpine ski teams make their annual trip to Lake Placid, N.Y., to compete at Whiteface Mountain on Saturday and Sunday.
• The Beavers and their MacConnell Division rivals are bracing for extreme cold to compete in the giant slalom on Saturday and slalom on Sunday.
LAST TIME AT WHITEFACE
• Junior
Mads Fondevik Syversen recorded a pair of victories to help the Babson men finish first in both giant slalom races, while seven different competitors posted a top-10 result to help the Babson women place second and fifth in the GS on January 24-25, 2025.
• Sophomore
James Rosenbloom (4th, 2nd) and senior
Elliot Perretta (5th, 4th) both registered a pair of top-five finishes, while senior
Sebastian Sheppard followed up a 12th-place showing on day one by coming in ninth in the second race of the weekend.

Julia Wiacek (3rd), classmate Sonnie Travis (7th) and sophomore
Camryn Knowlton (9th) helped the Babson women place second on day two of the carnival, why juniors
Ava Butler (9th) and
Riley Jerome (10th) led the Beavers to a fifth-place showing in the opening GS race of the weekend.
ABOUT THE BABSON WOMEN
• The Beavers followed up a runner-up finish last Friday by placing sixth on Saturday in the second of two slalom races at Proctor Ski Area.
• Wiacek followed up a fifth-place result on day one by finishing atop the podium in the second race of the weekend, while first-year
Quinn Dennehy earned her second runner-up finish of the year on day one of the carnival.
• Wiacek owns three top-five finishes and sits atop the MacConnell Division individual standings through four races, while Dennehy boasts two second-place results and three top-five finishes in four races and is currently third overall in the division standings.
• Travis, who boasts a pair of top-10 results, is currently 17th in the season standings, Butler (20th) is the only Babson competitor to finish all four races, and Knowlton (24th) owns a pair of top-15 finishes in four starts.
ABOUT THE BABSON MEN
• The Beavers continued to dominate the MacConnell Division circuit with a pair of first-place finishes in the slalom last weekend at Proctor Ski Area.
• Perretta, first-year
Asher Baron and fellow rookie
Niko Leunig claimed the top three spots in Friday's race, and Leunig (1st), Rosenbloom (3rd), Perretta (4th) and Baron (6th) were four of five Babson competitors to finish among the top 10 in Saturday's race.
• Perretta (1st) and Leunig (2nd) have combined for three victories and six podium finishes through four races and currently sit atop the standings, while Baron (5th) and Rosenbloom (6th) have both placed among the top seven three times over the first two carnivals.
• Sophomore
Connor Roy (10th) and first-year
Ben Hostetter (11th) both own a pair of top-10 results, and Sheppard (13th) boasts four top-25 finishes and is the only Babson skier to complete all four races on the year.
MACCONNELL DIVISION HITS THE MIDWAY POINT
• With four wins in four starts, the Babson men are currently in first place followed by Clarkson and Castleton. The Golden Knights own three runner-up finishes, while the Spartans have placed third in all four races to begin the year.
• The Babson women are currently second behind Castleton, which has come in first three times over the first four races.
STREAKING BEAVERS
• The Babson men have won 14 consecutive MacConnell Division races going back to the start of the 2025 campaign and have finished either first or second in 23 straight league competitions since January 13, 2024.
• Despite placing sixth in last Saturday's slalom at Proctor, the Babson women have come in either first or second in 21 of the last 24 MacConnell Division races.
PAST SUCCESS AT WHITEFACE
• Wiacek, Travis and Butler both own three top-10 finishes in the giant slalom at Whiteface, and all three - Wiacek (7th), Travis (13th) and Butler (21st) - recorded top-25 results in the slalom during the 2024 USCSA National Championships.
• Jerome has registered four top-20 finishes in the GS at Whiteface over her first two seasons.

Sebastian Sheppard placed 22nd in the slalom at nationals two years ago and also owns four top-20 results in the GS over the last two seasons.
UP NEXT
• Babson will return to upstate New York next Saturday and Sunday when they compete at West Mountain in Queensbury.
