SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 50-36 all-time against WPI in a series that dates back to the 1974-75 campaign.
• The Beavers have dropped four straight and five of their last six games against the Engineers since 2019.
• Despite a pair of double-digit losses last season, seven of the last 15 games between the teams have been decided by seven points or less.
LAST MEETING
• Senior John Lowther scored 20 of his game-high 26 points in the second half to help WPI defeat the Beavers, 83-64, on February 5, 2022, in Babson Park.
• Junior John Adams scored 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and Colin McNamara added 14 points for the Engineers, who shot 53.2 percent and built a 49-31 halftime lead.
• Sophomore Nate Amado posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards and junior Kieran Dorney contributed 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting for the Beavers, who shot just 39.1 percent.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (8-5, 1-1 NEWMAC) snapped a two-game skid with a 59-55 win at Springfield on Saturday.
• Senior Andrew Kirkpatrick scored 18 points, classmate Aaron Gao added 10 points and junior John Gorgol hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 51 seconds remaining for the Beavers, who led by as many as nine in the second half.
• Amado (20.7 pts, 7.5 reb) leads the NEWMAC in scoring but has missed the last three games, Kirkpatrick (15.1 pts, 3.5 ast) has scored in double figures in nine straight contests, and Cibull (8.5 pts, 2.3 ast) is shooting 47.4 percent from the floor.
• The Green and White is pulling down 12.1 offensive rebounds per game and ranks second in the conference in steals (9.4).
SCOUTING THE ENGINEERS
• No. 14 WPI (10-2, 2-0 NEWMAC) has won two straight games and is coming off an 88-40 rout of MIT on Saturday.
• Sophomore Aidan Callahan scored a game-high 13 points and Adams contributed eight points, 12 rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Engineers, who shot 52.1 percent and forced 25 turnovers in the victory.
• Lowther (14.2 pts, 5.5 reb) has scored in double figures in 16 of the last 17 games going back to last season, Callahan (12.2 pts, 4.0 reb, 2.9 ast) has hit at least one three-pointer in 10 straight outings, and Adams (11.3 pts, 8.1 reb) is shooting 48.3 percent on the year.
• WPI leads Division III in scoring defense allowing just 52.9 points per game and is holding opponents to just 37.8 percent shooting.
WELCOME BACK
• Wednesday's contest will be the first inside Staake Gymnasium for the Beavers since defeating Bates, 70-59, back on December 1.
• Babson is 3-0 at home this season and since the start of the 2014-15 campaign has a .816 winning percentage (93-21) inside Staake Gymnasium.
PICKING UP THE SLACK
• Cibull matched his season high in last Wednesday's loss to Emerson and over his last four games is averaging 16.3 points while shooting 70.6 percent (24-of-34) from the floor and 7-of-10 from beyond the arc.
• Gao has scored in double figures in two straight games and is averaging 9.6 points on 55.3 percent shooting over the last five contests.
• First-year Mark Woolhouse is contributing 8.3 points and 4.8 rebounds over his last four outings.
BEAVER BITES
• Kirkpatrick is shooting 89.7 percent (26-of-29) at the free throw line over the last six games and is hitting at an 88.9 percent clip from the charity stripe this winter.
• O'Toole has grabbed 15 offensive rebounds over the last five games and is averaging 9.0 boards over his first two NEWMAC games. He is also the only player on the team with at least one offensive rebound and one steal in every game this season.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• Babson is 5-2 this season when shooting 40 percent or better from the floor.
• The Beavers are 5-1 this season and 38-3 going back to 2019-20 when outrebounding their opponents.
