SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—Sophomore Kieran Dorney (Garden City, N.Y.) scored a game-high 21 points and visiting Babson College knocked down a season-best 18 three-pointers on the way to defeating Springfield College, 96-71, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's basketball action on Wednesday night inside Blake Arena.

With its 11th win in the last 13 games, Babson improves to 16-6 overall and 9-2 in league play. Springfield dropped its fifth consecutive game to slip to 5-15 overall and 3-8 in the NEWMAC.

Dorney went 5-of-6 from beyond the arc and added 10 rebounds to post his fifth double-double of the year for the Beavers. Senior Colin Bradanese (Billerica, Mass.) also contributed 10 points and eight boards in the win.

First-year Jacob Morales (Montvale, N.J.) finished with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting to go along with six boards, while senior Collin Lindsay (East Longmeadow, Mass.) chipped in with 12 points to lead the Pride.

Dorney made his first three triple and scored 11 consecutive points to put the Green and White in front 16-13 just over five minutes into the contest. Junior Aaron Gao (Bridgewater, Mass.) buried a three-pointer and scored off an offensive rebound, and Welch canned his first trifecta of the night to extend the lead to 31-21 with 6:05 to go in the half.

Springfield was within eight after a three-pointer by senior Daryl Costa (Providence, R.I.), but the Beavers responded with a 15-5 run that included a pair of triples by Welch and another by Dorney to stretch the margin to 47-29 at the break. The Pride cut its deficit to 14 twice in the second half, the last coming on a hoop by sophomore Zeke Blauner (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) with 10:40 remaining, before Babson put the game away with a 25-9 spurt.

Five players scored in the span of six possessions, including five points by Bradanese, to push the lead back to 77-54 with 7:55 left in the game. Kirsch and Dorney sandwiched three-pointer around a hoop in the paint by first-year Nate Amado (Hanson, Mass.) and Welch followed with another triple to give the Green and White its biggest lead of the night at 88-58 with 5:18 remaining.

The Beavers shot 50 percent overall and went 18-of-33 (54.5 percent) from beyond the arc in addition to finishing with a 41-30 edge on the glass. The Pride shot 45.9 percent on the night but were just 7-of-26 (26.9 percent) from downtown.
