SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 10-3 all-time against Salve Regina in a series that dates back to the 1982-83 season.
• The Beavers had their six-game winning streak in the series snapped last season.
• Saturday's matchup will be just the fifth since 2008 between Babson and the Seahawks.
LAST MEETING
• Mikey Spencer poured in a game-high 28 points to help Salve Regina defeat Babson, 78-70, on November 13, 2021, in Newport, R.I.
• Spencer finished 10-of-19 from the floor, Cameron Collins added 17 points and eight rebounds and Kevin Kelly recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards to lead the Seahawks.
• Sophomore Nate Amado had 19 points and seven rebounds, while Mitchell Kirsch M'22 added 16 points and five rebounds for the Beavers, who were just 10-of-20 at the free throw line.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (1-0) opened the season with a 76-65 win at Lasell on Wednesday night.
• Amado scored a career-high 25 points and led all players with 15 rebounds, while senior Andrew Kirkpatrick added 23 points and four steals for the Beavers, who outscored the Lasers 44-28 over the final 20 minutes.
• Amado (11.8 pts, 7.7 reb) and Kirkpatrick (8.5 pts) are the lone returning starters from a team that went 19-8 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last winter.
• Junior John Gorgol also averaged 5.0 points and 3.9 boards before suffering a season-ending injury 10 games into the year.
SCOUTING THE SEAHWAKS
• Salve Regina (0-1) opened the season with a 60-57 loss at Eastern Nazarene on Wednesday night.
• Ryan St. Clair had 16 points and nine rebounds and James Jolly added 11 points for the Seahawks, who shot just 38.9 percent.
• Salve Regina returns 10 players from a team that went X-X last season highlighted by Spencer, who averaged 19.5 points and 6.0 rebounds.
• Junior Clay Brochu (9.6 pts, 4.0 reb, 2.4 ast) was fourth on the team in scoring, while sophomore Declan Walmsley started all 28 games and contributed 7.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
NEW FACES MAKE AN EARLY IMPACT
• Three first-years and a graduate transfer all made their Babson debuts in Wednesday's victory at Lasell.
• First-year Timmy O'Toole finished with eight points, nine rebounds and game-high five steals, classmate Mark Woolhouse scored eight second-half points off the bench and graduate student Ryan Cibull had three points and dished out a team-high four assists in 26 minutes.
• First-year Tyler Lauder also started in his collegiate debut but was limited to just 14 points finishing with two points and two rebounds.
PRESEASON POLLS
• The Beavers were picked to finish second when the NEWMAC released its preseason coaches' poll, receiving one first-place vote. Defending champion WPI received six top votes and was first in the voting while Emerson also received a first-place vote and finished third.
• Lasell was picked to finish fifth in the South division of the GNAC behind Saint Joseph (Conn.), Albertus Magnus, Johnson & Wales and Regis. USJ received nine first-place votes followed by Albertus (3) and JWU (1).
A LOOK AT THE SCHEDULE
• Babson will play as many as six games against teams that participated in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, as well as games against D3hoops.com preseason No. 8 WPI and No. 13 Saint Joseph (Conn.).
• Prior to league play beginning in January, the Beavers will play eight of their first 11 games away from home, including the Big 4 Challenge at Tufts the weekend before Thanksgiving and a trip to the Midwest the week between Christmas and New Year's to face NCAA Tournament foe Hope (Mich.) and the University of Chicago.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers' 16 steals against Lasell are their most since finishing with 16 pilfers in a 71-70 loss at Clark on January 29, 2014.
• Babson went 11-3 at home last season and is 95-20 inside Staake Gymnasium dating back to January 22, 2015.
• Since the start of the 2018-19 campaign, the Green and White is 36-2 when holding its opponents below 70 points.
• The Beavers grabbed 16 offensive rebounds on Wednesday at Lasell, which is their most since hauling down 17 in their 2021-22 season opener against UMass Boston.
