Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass.—Junior Peter Chisholm (Westford, Mass.) scored a game-high four goals and senior John Antaya (Duxbury, Mass.) recorded a career-high six caused turnovers as Babson College defeated visiting Springfield College, 15-5, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's lacrosse action on Saturday night at MacDowell Field.
With the win, Babson (3-0, 3-0 NEWMAC) clinched a share of its second NEWMAC regular season title since 2018, while Springfield drops to 0-3 overall and in league play.
Graduate student Sean Smith (Pasadena, Calif.) finished with two goals and one assist and seniors Mason O'Hanlon (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and Alex Lesher (Scottsdale, Ariz.) each scored twice for the Beavers. Junior Ryan Donovan (Hingham, Mass.) scored once to go along with a game-high three assists in the win.
Junior Drew Thomas (Jacksonville Beach, Fla.) led all players with nine ground balls and first-year Grey Sunderland (Bellevue, Wash.) won 11-of-23 face-offs and scooped up eight ground balls for Babson. Senior Mac Mowat (Bellevue, Wash.) made a season-high eight saves on the night.
Sophomore Riley Burgmyer (Somers, Conn.) scored twice and junior Zac Shuette (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) dished out two assists for the Pride. Senior Noah Rouleau (Saint Albans, Vt.) won 8-of-13 face-offs and scooped up five ground balls, while first-year Jack Hamilton (Falmouth, Mass.) stopped eight shots in the loss.
Trailing 2-1 midway through the opening quarter, the Green and White ripped off three straight goals to go in front for good. Smith put Babson in front following a turnover at the 3:57 mark, and Chisholm converted a feed from Antaya on the ensuing face-off to make it 4-2 just 12 seconds later.
Springfield pulled within a goal two minutes into the second, but the Beavers closed the half with five unanswered tallies. Chisholm notched a pair of markers during the run as the Beavers scored three times over the final three minutes of the stanza to build a 9-3 lead at the break.
The Pride got as close as five on Burgmyer's second tally of the night with 3:53 left in the third quarter only to see the Green and White respond with four goals in less than four minutes to put the game away. O'Hanlon scored late in the third and then put away a feed from Donovan to make it 11-4 just under two minutes into the fourth. Lesher scored off a feed from Smith 50 seconds later and Donovan capped the run 44 seconds after that to give the hosts a 13-4 advantage with 11:30 to go in the game.
Chisholm set up senior John Calicchio's (Gulfstream, Fla.) goal with 5:35 to play and then added his fourth of the night with 1:34 remaining for the final margin.
The Beavers were successful on 20-of-24 clears and forced Springfield into 27 turnovers, 10 of which came in the second quarter.
Springfield, which was outshot 41-29, finished with a slim 43-39 edge in ground balls.
The Beavers have secured one of the top two seeds in the upcoming NEWMAC Tournament and will host a semifinal contest next Saturday. The official pairings will be announced on Sunday.

• Babson has won three straight regular season games against Springfield for the first time in program history.
• The Beavers have now won three NEWMAC regular season titles dating back to 2015 and are set to host their first conference playoff game since 2016.
• Going back to 1995, this is the first time Babson has recorded three straight wins with every victory coming by a margin of 10 goals or more.
