SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 7-4 all-time against Coast Guard in a series that dates back to 2015, including 3-2 at MacDowell Field.
• The Beavers had a three-game winning streak in the series snapped last year in New London, Conn.,

LAST GAME
• Coast Guard scored six consecutive goals to end the third quarter and begin the fourth, and the Bears held off a late rally by No. 18 Babson for an 11-9 victory in the regular season finale on April 26, 2025 at Cadet Memorial Field in New London, Conn.

Jacob Tauss M'25 and Topher Barlow M'25 finished with two goals and an assist each. Junior

Alex Fascilla '25 made 11 saves in goal in the setback.
• Sophomore Ezekiel Christian tallied two goals and two assists and Ryan Hunter '25 contributed a goal and a game-high three assists for the Bears. Senior Patrick Smith and sophomore Nolan Grizzle added two goals and an assist each, junior Max Silver chipped in with a pair of goals, and junior Mason Tucker collected six ground balls after winning 8-of-20 face-offs. Oliver Bolton '25 caused three turnovers and picked up five ground balls, and junior Brett Tobasky made 14 saves in goal in the victory.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (10-1, 3-0 NEWMAC), ranked fifth in Division III by the USILA and eighth by USA Lacrosse Magazine, has won its last two games after an 18-5 victory at UMass Boston Tuesday evening.
• Rooney led all players with four goals and one assist for five points, Matthews scored three times and graduate student
Beau Burns was a perfect 15-of-15 on face-offs. Seniors
Braden Reilly and
Bennett Smith both contributed a goal and two assists as 10 players finished with multiple points and 15 different players scored for the Beavers. Sophomore
Beck Trafton won 6-of-10 face-offs and collected three ground balls, and classmate
Andrew Almquist finished with eight saves in goal.
• The Beavers continue their balanced offense as Smith (17-19-36), grad student
Joey Allen (21-10-31), and Reilly (13-18-31) are all within five points of the team lead in scoring, while Rooney (19-6-25) and Matthews (18-6-24) and grad student
Patrick McAleavey (15-1-16) all have at least 15 goals. Burns has a 74.6 success rate (138-185) on face-offs and leads the team with 102 ground balls.

Ryan St. Onge (7 CTs, 16 GBs) anchor the Beaver defense. Almquist (8.68 GAA,.606 sv. pct., 143 svs) is second in the NEWMAC in both GAA and save percentage.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
• Coast Guard (3-6, 2-1 NEWMAC), which has won its last two conference games, is coming off a 17-5 non-conference home loss to Union on Tuesday evening.
• Junior Eric Key (1g, 2a) led the Bears with three points in addition to two ground balls while Christian (2g) and junior Noah Heller (1g, 1a) had two points each. Junior Jamison Wildt forced two turnovers and scooped up a pair of ground balls, and senior Dustin Miller made 15 saves in 45 minutes between the pipes while grabbing five ground balls in the loss.
• Christian (19-20-39) is second in the NEWMAC in assists and fifth in points. Senior Patrick Smith (16-4-20) is second on the team in scoring and Heller (10-9-19), Key (12-6-18) and Silver (11-4-15) have scored double-digit goals. Tucker has won 46.2 percent (79-171) of his face-offs and leads the team with 51 ground balls.
• Wildt (10 CTs, 10 GBs) and senior Frederick Wheaton (9 CTs, 12 GBs) backbone the Bears' defense. Tobasky (12.25 GAA, .503 sv. pct., 72 svs.) has started seven games between the pipes for the Bears while Miller (9.25 GAA, .631 sv. pct., 41 svs.) has started the other two.
BEAVERS EARN CONFERENCE RECOGNITION
• After a 2-1 week, which included a tough loss to No. 2/2 Bowdoin and the conference win at Salve Regina, Allen (Offense), Almquist (Defense) and Burns (Face-Off) swept the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly awards on Monday.
• Allen put up five goals and one assist for six points in the 1-1 week, while Almquist totaled 35 saves with a 9.00 goals against average and a .660 save percentage and Burns won 17-of-31 face-offs (54.8 percent) and scooped up 13 ground balls.
• Burns earned the NEWMAC weekly honor for the fourth time this season while Almquist received the honor for the third time and Allen is now a two-time honoree.
AGAINST THE NEWMAC
• The only unbeaten team in NEWMAC play this season, Babson is 27-5 in regular season conference games going back to the shortened 2021 season.
• The Beavers are seeking their third regular season crown in the last four seasons and their fourth straight conference tournament title.
MACDOWELL MENACES
• The Beavers bring a 4-1 home record into Saturday's game after Bowdoin snapped Babson's 12-game winning streak at MacDowell Field dating back to last season.
• The Green and White are 14-2 at home since the beginning of last season and have won 23 of their last 25 home games going back to the start of the 2024 campaign.
• The Beavers have outscored their opponents at home this season, 81-42.
INDIVIDUAL NCAA RANKINGS
• Burns is fourth in Division III with a 74.6 face-off winning percentage and 19th with 9.27 ground balls per game.
• Allen is fourth in Division III with eight man-up goals and Matthews is sixth with a 51.4 shot percentage.
• Almquist ranks 23rd in the country with a 60.6 save percentage.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS
• Smith has moved into third place on the career assist list with 94 assists, and into a tie for sixth place with Mike Welch '01 on the Babson career points list with 163.
• Rooney has moved up to 14th on the program's career goal scoring list with 85 goals, and needs two more to catch Niall Dillon '19 for 13th place with 87. Rooney is also 16th on the career points list with 130.

Tyee Ambrosh has moved in the top 20 in career caused turnovers and currently ranks 17th with 33.
BEAVER BITES
• Rooney extended his point streak to 30 games going back to last season with his five-point game at UMB.
• Smith has at least three points in eight straight and 10 of 11 games this season, and he is the only Beavers who has points in all 11 games.

Tyee Ambrosh has at least one caused turnover in seven of his last nine games, including a career -high three forced turnovers vs. Bowdoin.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Green and White are 10-0 this spring and have won 24 in a row since the start of last year when scoring at least 10 goals.
• The Beavers are 8-1 this season and 19-3 going back to last spring when holding a lead at halftime.
• Since the start of the 2024 campaign, Babson is 34-3 when winning at least 50 percent of its face-offs.
• Going back to 2023, the Beavers are 14-5 in the month of April.
