SERIES HISTORY
• Babson and Emerson will meet for just the seventh time on Saturday in a series that dates back to 2014.
• The Beavers have won each of the six previous meetings and have outscored the Lions 89-13.
LAST MEETING
• Samuel Mishkind '19 scored seven goals as Babson cruised to a 17-5 win over Emerson on April 13, 2019, in Boston.
• Owen Allen '20 and Niall Dillon '19 both finished with three goals and junior Ryan Donavan dished out four assists for the Beavers, who got a combined eight ground balls and five caused turnovers from seniors Jack Tague and Reed Goldstein.
• Junior Skyler Celotto finished with three goals and an assist for the Lions, who got 14 saves from fellow junior Malcolm McGrath.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
• Emerson (0-0) brings back 13 players from a team that was 2-3 when the 2020 season was halted last March.
• Celotto (16-4-20) has scored at least two goals in nine of his last 10 games, junior Hunter Gervais (4-6-10) led the team in assists last year, and graduate student Austin Franklin contributed four goals and four assists.
• Senior Jiwon Kim, one of three returning starters on defense, scooped up 10 ground balls and finished with a team-best nine caused turnovers last spring.
• McGrath started all five games between the pipes posting an 11.91 goals against average and a .557 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (1-0, 1-0 NEWMAC) opened its season with a 20-2 victory at Wheaton last Saturday.
• Donavan produced a career-high four goals and senior Mason O'Hanlon added three goals and one assist for the Beavers, who got points from 13 different players in the win.
• The Beavers bring back five of their top seven scorers, highlighted by sophomore Chi Chi Price (10-1-11), who was second on the team in goals, and senior Ethan Carpenter (4-7-11), who was second on the team in assists.
• Senior goalie Mac Mowat, who stopped three first-half shots in his first start since 2018 last Saturday, boasts a 6.32 goals against average and a .625 save percentage in six career appearances.
BIG DAY AT THE "X"
• First-year Grey Sunderland and junior Jack Gregory combined to win 20-of-26 face-offs last Saturday at Wheaton.
• Sunderland was an efficient 14-of-19 and scooped up a game-high eight ground balls, while Gregory won 6-of-7 and picked up four ground balls for the Beavers.
SET UP MEN
• Graduate student Sean Smith, senior Will Messner and sophomore Dan Neill all dished out two assists in Saturday's victory.
• Eight different players recorded an assist and Babson finished with 11 helpers as a team in the opener.
BEAVER BITES
• Sipes, who scored twice in Saturday's season opener at Wheaton, has at least one goal in seven consecutive games going back to last March.
• The Beavers outshot Wheaton 57-13 and have now generated more shots than their opponents in seven of the last nine NEWMAC regular season games.
• Babson scored three man-up goals against the Lyons in the opener and have now converted at least one extra-man opportunity in straight contests going back to the end of the 2019 campaign.
