Women's Basketball Pulls Away from Connecticut College, 71-44

NEW LONDON, Conn.—Sophomore Kelly Walsh (Goffstown, N.H.) scored a game-high 19 points as visiting Babson College defeated Connecticut College, 71-44, in non-conference women's basketball action on Wednesday night inside Luce Fieldhouse.

With the win, Babson raises its record to 7-2, while Connecticut College slips to 2-7 on the year.

Sophomore Madison Odam (San Jose, Calif.) finished with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting to go along with seven rebounds, while first-year Kiara Simone Davis (Coral Gables, Fla.) added seven points for the Beavers, who got four or more points from eight different players. Walsh contributed four steals and first-year Camilla Silk (Medfield, Mass.) pulled down a game-high eight rebounds in the victory.

Sophomore Aislinn McMahon (Andover, Mass.) registered 11 points and five boards and senior Emily Tripp (Westport, Mass.) chipped in with 10 points to pace the Camels. Classmate Emily O'Sullivan (North Reading, Mass.) dished out a game-high six assists in the loss.

The Green and White outscored Connecticut College 9-2 over the final 4:28 of the second quarter to build an eight-point halftime lead before pulling away in the third quarter. Odam sandwiched a pair of hoops around a layup by first-year Anika Chinthakunta (Saratoga, Calif.) and Silk canned a pair of free throws to stretch Babson's lead to 36-23 less than three minutes into the stanza.

Odam extended the margin to 14 with a three-pointer at the 5:14 mark and combined with Walsh to score 12 points during a 13-2 spurt that helped Babson build a 50-27 advantage going to the fourth quarter. Davis and first-year Abigail Miller (Millis, Mass.) knocked down back-to-back three-pointers and Silk scored inside to give the Beavers their largest lead of the game at 58-29 with 6:39 to go in the final period.

Babson shot 51.7 percent in the second half (15-of-29) and 43.5 percent for the game while outscoring the Camels 28-20 in the paint. The Beavers also finished with a 45-29 edge on the glass.

Connecticut College shot just 32.1 percent and were 5-of-24 (20.8 percent) from three-point range in the loss.

Babson returns to action on December 30 when it hosts Endicott as part of the Judy Pearson '85 Memorial Tournament at 3 p.m. The Camels host No. 24 Springfield on Saturday at 2 p.m.

• The Beavers are now 13-2 all-time against Connecticut College and have won five straight in the series over the last three seasons.
• Babson has shot better than 40 percent from the floor in seven of nine games this season.
• The Beavers have won 31 of their last 34 games going back to the 2019-20 campaign when outrebounding their opponent.
• Babson is 6-0 this season and has won its last 17 games when leading at halftime.
