Game Preview: Men's Basketball vs. Lasell

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 16-3 all-time against Lasell in a series that dates back to 1998.
• The Beavers have won nine in a row over the Lasers, which includes a two-game sweep last February.
• Eight of the 19 matchups between the teams have been decided by five points or less.

LAST MEETING
• Following an 80-72 victory in the opening game of last year's series, senior Max Gussen led five players in double figures with a career-high 19 points as the Beavers downed Lasell 97-55 on February 28, 2021, in Babson Park.
Andrew Jaworski '21 scored 13 points, senior James Welch added 12 and classmate Colin Bradanese finished with 11 points for Babson, which shot a blistering 59.7 percent from the floor.
• Jonathan Friberg scored 16 points and Kevin Vanderhorst added 14 for the Lasers.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (2-0) is coming off a 91-66 win over Suffolk on Sunday afternoon.
• Bradanese scored a game-high 25 points, Welch finished with 15 points off the bench and first-year Nate Amado posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Beavers.
• Bradanese (19.0 pts, 11.0 reb) is shooting 50 percent over the first two games, Amado is averaging 13.5 points and 7.5 rebounds, and Welch (11.5 pts, 2.0 ast) is second on the team in assists through two contests.
• The Green and White has held its first two opponents to a combined 36.5 percent shooting.

SCOUTING THE LASERS
• Lasell (0-1) opened the season with an 86-78 loss to Husson on Friday night.
• EJ Day scored a game-high 25 points to go along with five steals and four assists, while Vanderhorst added 16 points and 12 boards for the Lasers, who trailed by as many as 19 midway through the second half.
• Lasell, which was limited to just two games last winter, returns four players that averaged double figures in 2019-20, highlighted by Day (25.1 pts, 4.8 reb, 4.8 ast) and Kevin Nunez, who averaged 16. 1 points and 4.8 boards.
• The Lasers averaged 79.7 points on 46.1 percent shooting two seasons ago.

BRADANESE SWEEPS NEWMAC WEEKLY HONORS
• After producing a double-double with a career-high 14 rebounds in Saturday's win over UMass Boston and averaging 19 points and 11 boards in two games, Bradanese was selected as the NEWMAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
• He blocked four shots in Saturday's victory over the Beacons and is averaging 2.5 blocks through two contests.

STARTING STRONG
• In addition to Amado, who scored in double figures in each of his starts over the weekend, graduate student Mitchell Kirsch and first-year Rob Crouch played well in two starts for the Beavers.
• Kirsch, who was a two-year starter at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, is averaging 8.0 points on 71.4 percent shooting to go along with 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists, while Crouch contributed six points and three boards in Sunday's victory over Suffolk.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers have pulled down 30 offensive rebounds and are averaging 14.5 points second-chance points over their first two games.
• Babson has committed just 14 turnovers to start the season.
• The Beavers have outscored their first two opponents 72-42 in the paint.

UP NEXT
• Babson will hit the road for the first time this season when it travels to Salve Regina on Saturday.
