Martin, Dowd Highlight Strong Day For Alpine Ski Teams at Pat's Peak

HENNIKER, N.H.—The Babson College men's and women's alpine ski teams continued their success in the slalom at Pat's Peak on Saturday as they combined to record six more top-10 finishes. The women placed second and third, respectively, in two races, while the men finished as the runner-up in their third competition of the weekend.

Sophomore Michelle Martin (Belmont, Mass.), who finished second in Friday's slalom event at Pat's Peak, continued her success by coming in sixth in race one and backing it up with a fifth-place showing in the second race of the day. First-year Teagan Mosenthal (Campton, N.H.) posted ninth- and seventh-place results, while sophomore Tatum Alkier (Collingwood, Ontario) finished ninth in race two after coming in 19th to open the day.

Junior Kristen Sweeney (Westport, Conn.) was 12th in the first race, while classmate Molly Danzig (Allendale, N.J.) recorded her top two finishes of the season by coming in 25th and 21st, respectively, on Saturday. Sophomore Kathleen Sheppard (Woodstock, Vt.) also put together a pair of strong performances as she finished 29th in the first race and then moved up nine spots in race two.

The Beavers, who have now finished outside the top three just once in nine competitions, came in third, 8.86 seconds behind first-place Brown and second-place Castleton to start the day. The Green and White came back with its second runner-up finish in the afternoon, coming in just 3.72 seconds behind Brown.

Following his victory on Friday, senior Carter Dowd (Salt Lake City, Utah) finished as the runner-up on Saturday to keep Babson in contention for the MacConnell Division title. Clarkson, which is three points clear of the Beavers entering the final race of the regular season on Sunday, won for the fifth time in the last six races.

Sophomore John Boland (Waitsfield, Vt.) wrapped up a strong weekend at Pat's Peak with a 12th-place result, while senior Sam Barber (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) did the same with a 14th-place finish. Sophomore T.J. Pope (Bountiful, Utah) came in 19th, and the trio of junior Max Barber (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), classmate Evan Cooke (Brookline, N.H.) and senior Graham Quisenberry (Farmington, Conn.) swept the 21st through 23rd spots.

Both the Babson men and women have wrapped up berths in next weekend's USCSA Eastern Regional Championships, and will concluded the regular-season schedule on Sunday with their fourth giant slalom race of the year at Mount Sunapee.
