QUEENSBURY, N.Y.—Led by a pair of top-four results, the Babson College men's alpine ski team came in second, while the women's team finished sixth in the giant slalom to open the second weekend of MacConnell Division competition at West Mountain.
Senior Carter Dowd (Salt Lake City, Utah) came in second overall, while classmate Sam Barber(Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished just 0.12 seconds behind him in fourth place. Sophomore T.J. Pope(Bountiful, Utah) recorded his first top-10 showing of the season by coming in sixth as the Beavers just 0.21 seconds behind first-place Castleton.
Senior Graham Quisenberry (Farmington, Conn.) came in 21st, sophomore Jackson Vanzon-Borwick (South Egremont, Mass.) was 24th and classmate John Boland (Waitsfield, Vt.) finished 28th overall. Juniors Evan Cooke (Brookline, N.H.) and Sam Foster (Minneapolis, Minn.) placed 36th and 39th, respectively, for Green and White.
Coming off back-to-back third-place finishes in the slalom at Blackwater last weekend, the Babson women slipped to sixth on Saturday in the GS. First-year Teagan Mosenthal (Campton, N.H.) came in 15th overall, less than a second ahead of sophomore Michelle Martin (Belmont, Mass.), who finished 16th.
Junior Kristen Sweeney (Westport, Conn.) came in 25th, sophomore Tatum Alkier (Collingwood, Ontario) was 35th and first-year Olivia Burwell (Manchester Center, Vt.) placed 41st for the Beavers, who finished one spot behind UMass. Brown won for the third time this season, while Castleton and Clarkson finished second and third, respectively.
Babson returns to West Mountain on Sunday to compete in the slalom.
