ANDOVER, N.H—The Babson College men's alpine ski team finished second in back-to-back slalom races to open the 2016 MacConnell Division season on Friday and Saturday at Blackwater Ski Area.
The Beavers finished just 0.25 seconds behind Connecticut on Friday and 1.53 seconds off the pace of Clarkson on Saturday. Castleton came in third in both races, while the Huskies (Saturday) and Golden Knights (Friday) each finished fourth once.
Senior Carter Dowd (Salt Lake City, Utah) and sophomore Jackson Vanzon-Borwick (South Egremont, Mass.) both got off to great starts with a pair of top-five showings for the Beavers. Dowd came in third on Friday and fourth on Saturday, while Vanzon-Borwick backed up his fourth-place result on day by coming in second to wrap up the weekend.
Sophomore John Boland (Waitsfield, Vt.) finished 13th on Saturday and 17th on Saturday, while senior Graham Quisenberry (Farmington, Conn.) came in 23rd and 22nd, respectively. Senior Sam Barber (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) finished 20th on Friday, while sophomore T.J. Pope (Bountiful, Utah) posted a 33rd-place result on Saturday.
Babson returns to action on Saturday at West Mountain.
