Women's 1500 meter starting list
THE SETUP:
Babson College junior Marina Capalbo will make her second consecutive appearance at the NCAA National Championship meet on Thursday when she competes in the women's 1500-meter prelims. Capalbo, who had the 15th best time among the event's 22 qualifiers, will run in the second of two heats with the top four from each heat, along with the next four best times, advancing to Saturday's finals.
LAST YEAR AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP:
Capalbo became the first Beavers' runner, male or female, to reach nationals last season when she qualified for the 1500 meters at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She posted a time of 4:41.73 to come in 17th overall, just missing out on a spot in the finals.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS:
Capalbo has had a superb season for the Green and White, earning All-NEWMAC honors with her second-place finish in the 1500 meters back on April 26, and garnering All-New England accolades by finishing sixth in both the 800 and 1500 meters on May 3. She did not compete at the ECAC Championship last week but is coming off her top performance of the spring less than two weeks ago when she broke her own school mark in the 1500 meters, posting her NCAA qualifying time of 4:34.08.
