BABSON PARK, Mass.—The NCAA announced the field for the 2014 Dvision III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday morning and for the second consecutive year, junior standout Marina Capalbo (Gainesville, Va.) was selected to compete in the 1500-meter run.
Capalbo, who garnered All-New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) and all-region honors in the 1500 meters this spring, has the 15th-best time among the 22 participants and broke her previous school record with a time of 4:34.08 at the New Balance Boston Twilight meet on May 10. The program-record holder in both the 800 and 5000 meters, Capalbo came in 17th in the 1500-meter preliminaries with a time of 4:41.73 last May in her nationals debut at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
The 1500-meter prelims will take place on Thursday, May 22 at 6 p.m., and should Capalbo advance, the finals are set for Saturday at 2 p.m. All events will take place at Selby Stadium on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio.
