Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior captain Meghan Andrew (Easton, Mass.) scored twice and junior Jessica DiPhilippo (Falmouth, Maine) chipped in with a pair of assists as Babson College remained undefeated with a 4-0 victory over Bryn Mawr College in non-conference women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.
The Beavers, who have won five straight home games, are now 4-0-0 on the year while Bryn Mawr falls to 1-3-0 overall.
Junior Jenny Moore (Duxbury, Mass.) and first-year Katie McKenna (Sandwich, Mass.) added goals for the Beavers, while first-year Jennifer Narlee (Medfield, Mass.) tacked on an assist.
Babson dominated play for much of the afternoon, building a 30-7 advantage in shots, which included an 18-3 edge in the first half.
After being unable to put away a couple of early scoring chances, the Beavers jumped on top in the 24th minute on Moore's third goal of the season. The reigning New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Offensive Player of the Week took a pass from DiPhilippo and dribbled towards to the top of the box, ripping a 20-yard shot that slipped past Owls' sophomore goalkeeper Aviva Kosansky (Boulder, Colo.) and into the net for a 1-0 lead.
After putting continual pressure on Bryn Mawr throughout the final 20 minute of the opening half and early moments of the second half, Babson finally extended its lead in the 55th minute. DiPhilippo took control of a bouncing ball in the box following a corner kick and played a short pass to Andrew, who hit a bouncing shot inside the left post for a 2-0 lead. McKenna then made it 3-0 at the 59:53 mark, hitting a 30-yard shot under the crossbar after intercepting a clearing pass for her first collegiate goal.
Andrew capped the scoring at 73-57, taking a pass from Narlee and lofting a high ball that went over Kosansky's head into the net for the final margin.
Junior Melina Kapotsis (Watertown, Mass.) and first-year Meaghan Merullo (Winchester, Mass.) each made a save and combined on the shutout for the Beavers while Kosansky made eight saves for the Owls.
After opening with four consecutive home games, Babson will travel to take on Wesleyan in a 2:30 p.m. start next Saturday while Bryn Mawr returns home to host Cairn on Friday at 4 p.m.
