Box Score NORTON, Mass. -- After missing 20 games with an injury, sophomore David Mack returned and tallied 10 points and seven rebounds to help the Babson College men's basketball team snap its three-game slide with a 65-44 victory at Wheaton College on Wednesday. With the win, the Beavers are now 12-12 overall and 4-7 in NEWMAC play with one regular season game remaining.
Appearing in his first game since November 20, Mack played 14 minutes off the bench and shot 5-for-7 from the field for 10 points. The sophomore forward also grabbed seven boards, dished out three assists, and blocked a shot. He was joined in double figures by junior Matt Palazini, who netted a game-high 15 points, junior Kenny Ross, who added 14 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, and first-year Travis Sheldon, who scored 10 points. Senior Russell Braithwaite and sophomore John Wickey each joined Mack and Ross with seven rebounds apiece.
Mike O'Loughlin was Wheaton's high scorer with nine points, while Brian Johnson added eight points and nine boards. The Lyons were held to just 30.9 percent shooting by the Beavers' stellar defense.
The two teams traded baskets early before Babson surged in front with a 12-2 run that made it 25-16 with 7:16 left in the first half. The Beavers later increased the lead to 34-19 at the break before pushing it over 20 for most of the final 12 minutes en route to the 65-44 triumph.
GAME NOTES: Babson now holds a 26-11 lead in the all-time series with Wheaton. This was also the Beavers' 10th win in the last 11 meetings with the Lyons since 2009.
