NEWRY, Maine -- Three members of the Babson College men's alpine
ski team competed at the Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association
(EISA) Eastern Championships this weekend. Freshman Mark
Grundy, senior captain Max Winthrop, and
senior captain Keith Vella all qualified for the
event, which was held at Sunday River.
On Saturday, Grundy placed 41st overall in the slalom with a
two-run combined time of 1:46.45, while Winthrop came in 44th with
a time of 1:52.06. Unfortunately, that would prove to be the lone
finishes of the weekend for the Beavers, who did not place any
individuals in the giant slalom amid tough racing conditions.
The Babson men will now set its sights on the USCSA National
Championships in Sunvalley, Idaho, where the Beavers will be making
their fourth straight appearance and eighth in the history of the
program. Babson will compete in the giant slalom on March 10 at
9:30 a.m., with the slalom following on March 12 at the same
time.
