WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Babson College women's soccer team
suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday, falling to host
Brandeis University, 4-0, on day one of the 2010 Brandeis
Invitational. with the defeat, the Beavers saw their record drop to
1-1 on the season.
The Judges controlled the game from the start, mounting a 9-1
shot advantage in the first half en route to a 16-5 advantage for
the contest. Brandeis netted its first goal when Sofia Vallone
tallied an unassisted goal at 20:48, and Hilary Andrews added an
unassisted score of her own to make it 2-0 at 35:48. Vallone then
scored her second of the day at 53:04, and Allison Maresca struck
off an assist from Taryn Martiniello just over two minutes later to
finish off the 4-0 win.
Senior captain Kristy Benoit (Shrewsbury,
Mass.) went the distance in net for the Beavers, making
three saves.
Babson returns to action on day two of the tournament, as they
face Ithaca College, ranked eighth in the nation at the end of last
season, on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Brandeis.
