BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Babson College women's
tennis team fell to visiting Trinity College, 8-1 on Saturday
afternoon at Farwell Courts.
Sophomore Rebecca Stone (Dover, Mass.) won the
Beavers lone match of the day at the number two singles spot where
she defeated sophomore Kelsey Semrod (Princeton, N.J.), 7-5, 6-0.
Trinity College first-year Hillary Hoyt (New York, N.Y.) had two
wins at the number one singles and doubles spot. In her singles
match she defeated Babson senior Jes Huang (Andover,
Mass.), 6-3, 6-2 and in the number one doubles spot, her
and partner Olivia Merns (New York, N.Y.) defeated Huang and Stone,
8-5. Mearns also won her singles match at the number five
spot, 6-3, 6-3. Also earning two wins for Trinity was
sophomore Kelsey Semrod (Princeton, N.J.) who defeated senior
Lorena Becerra (Key Biscayne, Fla.), 6-0,
4-6, 1-0 (10-2) at the number three sinlges position. With
partner Frances Cameron (Mill Valley, Calif.) Semrod also won
at the number two doubles spot, 8-5. Cameron also had a singles win
at the number six spot over sophomore Ashley Lake
(Brockton, Mass.), 6-3, 6-0. Junior Arielle Leben (New
York, N.Y.) won her two matches at the number four singles spot,
6-2, 6-0 and at the number three doubles spot with partner Jillian
Steckloff (Framingham, Mass.), 8-0.
The Beavers will play in their final match of the year on
Friday, April 9th when they host Salve Regina at 3:30pm.
