SERIES HISTORY
vs. Williams

• Babson is 0-4 all-time against Williams in a series that dates back to the 2012-13 campaign.
• The two teams are meeting on Saturday for the first time since the Ephs won 9-0 four years in a row from 2012-13 to 2015-16.
vs. Emerson
• Babson is 11-0 all-time against the Lions in a series that dates back to 2012. 
• The Beavers have not dropped a point over their last nine matches versus the Lions.

LAST MEETING
vs. Williams

• Babson wrapped up the 2015-16 campaign at 14-8 with a 9-0 loss to second-ranked and defending national champion Williams on April 30, 2016 at Farwell Courts in Babson Park.
• Yagmur Akgul had the best opportunity for the Beavers to pick up a point in singles as she forced a first-set tiebreaker before falling 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 at number one.
• Tori Paolino '16, the lone senior on the Babson roster, concluded her career with 101 combined singles and doubles wins while helping the program win its first NEWMAC title and earn its first NCAA Tournament berth in 2015.
vs. Emerson
• The 14th-ranked Beavers surrendered just three games overall on the way to a 7-0 defeat of Emerson on April 4, 2025 at the Babson Tennis Courts
Olivia Soffer '25, senior Matia Cristiani, junior Chaniel Soffer and sophomore Mia Sorrentino recorded points in both singles and doubles for the Beavers.
• Junior Dana Kamal and senior Grace Starcher also posted singles wins, and Kamila Stasiowska and sophomore Alessandra Cristiani were on winning doubles teams in the victory.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 7 Babson (7-3, 3-0 NEWMAC) has won three straight matches since returning from spring break, including a 4-0 verdict over local rival Brandeis on Thursday in Waltham.
• The Beavers swept the three doubles matches, and got straight-set wins from Matia Cristiani at number one singles and Sikharulidze at number two and a three-set decision from Alessandra Cristiani at number four. M. Cristiani and Sikharulidze won 6-3 at number one doubles, A. Cristiani and first-year Elizabeth Shu were 6-2 winners at number two, and sophomore Sarai Dorismond and first-year Jolie Wang took the number three match, 7-5.
Matia Cristiani (24-0), ranked No. 1 in singles in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), improved to 8-0 at number one in singles in dual matches, while Sikharulidze (14-4) is also 8-0 in dual matches since January, including 7-0 at number two. First-years Tina Liu (9-6) and Wang (9-5) are tied for third on the team in singles wins, and Kamal is 7-4.
• M. Cristiani and Sikharulidze (23-2), ranked ninth in Division III, have won nine in a row at number one doubles going back to October. Four other players have posted double digit victories in doubles, A. Cristiani (12-9), Sorrentino (12-4), Kamal (11-5) and Wang (10-3).

SCOUTING THE EPHS
• No. 13 Williams (8-2, 2-1 NESCAC) has won its last three matches after defeating No. 16 Swarthmore, 5-2, on Saturday in Swarthmore, Pa.
• The Ephs took the doubles point and then won four of the six singles matches in the victory, led by junior Julia Zhang and first-year Ayanna Varma who won in both singles and doubles. Senior Jane Ladaga and Varma teamed up for a 7-5 triumph at number one doubles, and junior Ahn Lin and Zhang emerged victorious by the same score at number two. Senior Mia Thomann, Zhang, Varma and first-year Katelyn Wu won at first, third, fourth and sixth singles, respectively.
• Varma (9-1) leads the team in singles wins, including 5-0 at number four, while Ladaga (7-1) is 3-0 at both numbers four and six. Zhang (6-3) is 3-0 at both numbers two and three, and sophomore Ellie Stark (6-2) is 4-0 at number five.
• The tandem of Ladaga and sophomore Mia Roets are 4-3 at number one doubles, while Lin and Zhang are 3-0 at number two and Varma and senior Mia Thomann are 3-2 at number two. The duos of Ladaga/Roets (4-3) and Varma/Ladaga (3-0) have winning records at number one.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
• Emerson (4-6, 0-3 NEWMAC) has dropped its last four matches following last Saturday's 5-2 conference loss to Salve Regina in Newport, R.I.
• First-year Teah Login and junior Amaya Briones won in straight sets at number one and two singles for Emerson. Senior Jayden Beverly went three sets in a loss at number six, and Beverly and Alisa Pimenova were edged at number three doubles, 7-5.
• Login (5-3) leads the team in singles wins, all at number one, while Briones (4-4) is right behind at number two. Matsuura is 3-5 in the third, fourth and fifth flights.
• The duo of Login and Matsuura are 2-4 at number one doubles, and Briones and sophomore Abigail Miner are 2-1 at number two.

IRON SHARPENS IRON
• Eight of Babson's first nine opponents this spring have been among the top 35 in the most recent ITA Division III rankings. 
• The Beavers opened the spring with a 4-3 win over then-No. 7 Johns Hopkins back on January 31 and also own victories over then-24th-ranked NYU (4-1) on February 28, No. 10 Bowdoin (4-3) on March 1 and No. 34 Smith (5-2) last Friday. 
• Babson suffered 4-2 losses to No. 2 Washington University and No. 4 Wesleyan and dropped a 4-3 decision to Johns Hopkins on its spring break trip to South Carolina two weeks ago. 
• Following Friday's match versus the Ephs, the Beavers will face No. 35 Wellesley on April 19, No. 12 Washington & Lee on April 23 and No. 6 MIT on April 25 to conclude the regular season. 

REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS
• Matia Cristiani has solidified her spot in the Babson women's tennis record books and is now the program's all-time leader in singles, doubles and combined wins.
• Cristiani's 104 wins in singles, 106 victories in doubles and 210 combined triumphs surpassed the marks set by Olivia Soffer '25, who won 99 times in singles and 97 times in doubles from 2021-25. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are a perfect 10-0 at number one and two singles and number one doubles this season.
• Babson is 7-0 this year and has won its last 15 matches going back to last season when claiming the doubles point. 
• The Green and White are 29-5 in NEWMAC regular season dual matches going back to 2021-22.

UP NEXT
• The Beavers will be home next Saturday, April 11, against Skidmore at 10 a.m. at the Babson Tennis Courts.
