No. 7 Women's Tennis Blanks No. 21 Brandeis, 4-0

WALTHAM, Mass.—Senior Matia Cristiani (San Salvador, El Salvador), sophomore Alessandra Cristiani (San Salvador, El Salvador) and first-year Sandra Sikharulidze (Kyiv, Ukraine) all recorded victories in both singles and doubles to help No. 7 Babson College defeat 21st-ranked Brandeis University in non-conference women's tennis action on Thursday afternoon inside Red Auerbach Arena. 

With its third consecutive win, Babson improves to 7-3 overall. Brandeis has dropped consecutive matches to slip to 7-5 on the year. 

Alessandra Cristiani and first-year Elizabeth Shu (Sugar Land, Texas) recorded a 6-2 win at number two doubles and Matia Cristiani and Sikharulidze secured the doubles point with a 6-3 triumph over junior Mandy Reyes (Manila, Philippines) and senior Rebecca Suarez (New York, N.Y.) at number one. The Beavers completed the sweep at number three as sophomore Sarai Dorismond (Carlsbad, Calif.) and first-year Jolie Wang (Los Altos Hills, Calif.) got past the Judges' duo of junior Chahana Budhbhatti (Ahmedabad, India) and first-year Avani Chitale (Ahmedabad, India), 7-5. 

Matia Cristiani cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Suarez at number one singles, and Sikharulidze made quick work of Reyes at number two, 6-2, 6-1. Alessanda Cristiani dropped the opening set to senior Nancy Zhang (Shanghai, China) at number five before storming back for a 5-7, 6-1, 6-0 win at number five for the clinching point. 

Shu won the opening set 6-3 at number three against Budhbhatti, while Wang trailed 4-3 in the first to sophomore Charly Saltz (Los Angeles, Calif.) at number six when the match was decided. 

Babson is right back in action on Friday when it travels to No. 20 Williams at 12 p.m. Brandeis hosts No. 35 Wellesley on Saturday at 12 p.m. 

MATCH NOTES
•    The Beavers are now 10-21 all-time against Brandeis and have won five consecutive matches between the teams since 2022.
•    Babson is now 5-3 against ranked opponents with four wins versus top-25 foes this spring. 
•    The Green and White is 7-0 this season and has won 15 consecutive matches when securing the doubles point dating back to last year.
