Endicott Defeats Women's Basketball, 69-54

BOX SCORE

BEVERLY, Mass. -- The Endicott College women's basketball team defeated visiting Babson College, 69-54, in a non-conference game played Thursday night in Beverly, Mass.  Endicott rebounds from a loss in their last game to move to 10-4 while the Beavers drop to 8-6.  The Gulls had three scorers in double figures led by 21 points and eight rebounds from Nicole Duchesne (Plaistow, N.H.).

The first half was marked by five lead changes and two ties as neither team could build a double-digit margin.  The Gulls led by as many as six in the opening minutes but the Beavers would go on an 8-0 run to take their first lead of the game, 10-8.  Endicott promptly responded with a 15-6 run of its own to go up by seven, its largest lead in the first half.  However, the Beavers would chip away again and regain the lead to close out the half, 32-27, as Babson's Kathleen King (Framingham, Mass.) scored the only two points in the final minute of the period.

Endicott came out of the half on a tear as the Gulls regained the lead only three minutes into the half with a 9-1 run capped off by a layup and the foul from Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H.).  A three-pointer by Babson's Nicole Wurdeman (Rowley, Mass.) tied the game at 38 for a short time but the Gulls would regain the lead a minute later on two free throws by Duchesne.

The Gulls would never trail again as they outscored the visiting Beavers by 20 points in the second half to secure their 10th win of the season.

Endicott was led by its three scorers in double figures including Duchesne's 21 points, Wright's 15 points, and Ashley Vitale (Wilmington, Mass.) who had 16 points and led the Gulls with nine rebounds.  Ashley Wright also had five steals in the contest while Duchesne took the high honor in assists with four.

The Beavers were led by King who had 18 points and a team-leading nine rebounds.  Wurdman joined her in double figures as she chipped in with 16 points and six rebounds. However, only three other players scored points for the visitors, who reached the foul line just eight times compared to Endicott's 18 trips to the charity stripe.

The Gulls return to TCCC action on Saturday as they host the visiting Western New England College at 1:00 p.m.  Babson looks to get back on track when it travels to NEWMAC foe MIT on Saturday in a game at 2:00 p.m.
