WELLESLEY, Mass. — The Babson College women's tennis team continued its strong play on day two of the Wellesley College Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Beavers won seven of nine singles matches over Brandeis University and followed with wins in all four doubles matches against Bates College.

The Beavers started the day with three rounds of three singles matches against Brandeis. Sophomore Sandra Sikharulidze (Kyiv, Ukraine) handed a 6-2, 6-2 setback to senior Chahana Bughbhatti; first-year Te'Anna Mata (Naples, Fla.) defeated sophomore Avani Chitale, 6-2, 6-2; and sophomore Elizabeth Shu (Sugar Land, Texas) downed first-year Kayla Chan, 6-3, 6-3.

Sophomore Jolie Wang (Los Altos Hills, Calif.) started the second round with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over sophomore Milani Sofizade, and junior Sarai Dorismond (Carlsbad, Calif.) earned a three-set victory over first-year Anushka Bhola, 6-4, 4-6, 10-5. Brandeis recorded its first victory when first-year Elli Gerontikou outlasted senior Dana Kamal (Cairo, Egypt), 3-6, 7-6 (6-4), 10-8.

Babson claimed wins in two of the last three matches against Wellesley as first-year Vanessa Vu (Boston, Mass.) defeated first-year Jillian Yang, 6-1, 6-2, and senior Chaniel Soffer (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) breezed past sophomore Galia Harmelin, 6-2, 6-2. The Blue won the final match when first-year Beatriz Ohara prevailed over sophomore Manuela Moscoso (Quito, Ecuador), 1-6, 6-4, (10-4).

The after session included four doubles matches against Bates. Sikharulidze and Shu defeated first-year Briana Bartles and sophomore Emelyn Harris, 6-4; Mata and Vu blanked senior Emma Steinberger and sophomore Lia Swire, 6-0; Dorismond and Wang took down first-years June Kim and Francesca Rodriguez, 6-1; and Kamal and Moscoso finished off first-year Emma Schillinger and sophomore Avni Bakre, 6-0.

The tournament wraps up on Sunday, with Babson meeting Wellesley and Bates taking on Brandeis in singles, beginning at 9 a.m. if outside and 10 a.m. in played indoors.
