BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College head field hockey coach Julie Ryan announced the hiring of Emily Devine as the program's new full-time assistant coach on Wednesday.
 
Following a successful collegiate playing career, Devine has served as a head coach for the Wizards Field Hockey Club since 2022. She oversees the year-round development of the program's U14 teams in addition to serving as an assistant coach for the nationally-ranked U16 and U19 squads. Devine led her U14 teams to the USA Field Hockey National Club Championships (NCC) in both 2023 and 2024 and helped coach both the U16 and U19 squads at NCCs in 2025 and 2026. 
 
"We are thrilled to welcome Emily to our staff," commented Ryan. "Her background as a Division I athlete, combined with her proven success as a club coach, brings an invaluable wealth of knowledge and elite-level experience to our program."
 
A 2021 graduate of the College of the Holy Cross with a degree in Mathematics, Devine was a four-year standout on the field hockey team. She started 52 of 58 games as a defender earning All-Patriot League second-team honors in 2019 and All-Patriot League first-team and National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Northeast Region first-team accolades during the 2020-21 campaign.
 
Devine, who helped the Crusaders reach the Patriot League Tournament three times in her four seasons, was recognized as an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction in all four seasons and was named to both the NFHCA Honor Roll and Patriot League Academic Honor Roll four times during her career at Holy Cross.
 
Following her graduation, Devine transferred to UMass Amherst and started 18 games for the Minutewomen, who ranked in the top 20 of the NFHCA coaches' poll and finished the season 13-6. She completed her master's degree from the Isenberg School of Management in Business & Analytics in May 2022.

Since 2022, along with her coaching experience, Devine has supported several colleges and universities through her work in various roles on the Enrollment Data Science team at Carnegie, a higher education enrollment marketing firm.
