Two from Women’s Tennis Earn NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Accolades

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.—Two members on the Babson College women's tennis team were honored for their work in the classroom when they were named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference team on Friday.

Juniors Dana Kamal (Cairo, Egypt) and Riya Matharoo (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) were named to the NEWMAC All-Academic team for the second year in a row.
Academic all-conference honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale after the 2025 fall semester, achieved second-year academic status, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

Kamal, a Finance and Entrepreneurship major, posted a 9-5 record in singles and a 17-7 mark in doubles, which is the fourth-most doubles wins on the team. She was 4-2 in dual-match singles, including 2-0 at number five and 2-2 at number six, and won two of her three matches against conference foes. She was 9-6 in doubles in dual matches, including 8-2 at number three and 5-0 against NEWMAC opponents. A three-year veteran for the Beavers, she has career records of 18-9 in singles and 33-22 in doubles, and was named the Most Outstanding Player in this year's NEWMAC Tournament.

Matharoo, a Real Estate major, finished with an 8-3 record in singles and a 3-2 mark in doubles this year. She was 3-0 in dual matches in singles, all against conference opponents, going 1-0 at number two and 2-0 at number six. She won her only doubles dual match in a conference encounter at number two. A two-year veteran after transferring from the University of Texas at Dallas, she has career records of 16-6 in singles and 10-6 in doubles.

Babson, ranked fifth in Division III, Babson finished the year with a 19-5 overall record after capturing its first NEWMAC Tournament championship since 2014 and advancing to the NCAA tournament national semifinals for the first time in program history.
