SPRINGFIELD, Mass.— The Babson College men's track & field team registered four All-Region performances in three events, including three individuals and one relay, on day two of the New England Division III Championships on Saturday at the Blake Track on the campus of the Springfield College.
The Beaver men finished in a tie for 20th with Plymouth State with 14 points, just one point shy of Saint Joseph's of Maine and Rhode Island College, who were tied for 18th with 15 points. WPI captured the team title with 115 points, with UMass Dartmouth and Wesleyan tied for second with 56 points.
Babson's 4x400-meter relay team turned in the top performance for the Beavers. The quartet of sophomores
Dominic Smith (Aspen, Colo.) and
Noa Wong (Kaneohe, Hawaii), first-year
Cameron Mehallo (Lafayette Hill, Pa.) and sophomore
Jackson Adams (Norwell, Mass.) earned All-Region honors with a third-place finish in a time of 3:19.38, which is the fourth-fastest time in program history.
Mehallo had the top individual finish for the Beavers, placing fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 54.06, just 0.21 off his season best. Adams joined him with All-Region honors by placing eighth in a time of 54.82.
First-year
Brady Kirtland (San Diego, Calif.) earned All-Region with a seven place in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.37 seconds. He also finished 20th in the 400 hurdles in a time of 57.10 seconds.
Wong and Smith both represented the Beavers in the 400 meters, with Wong placing 12th in a season-best time of 49.95 seconds and Smith finishing 15th in 50.59.
Babson will send a contingent of athletes to the Farley Inter Regional next Friday and Saturday at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass.
