Men's Track & Field Sees Nine Garner USTFCCCA All-East Region Recognition

NEW ORLEANS, La.—The Babson College men's track & field program had a record nine athletes earn United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-East Region honors on Wednesday afternoon.

The top-8 individuals in each event from each region on the year-end Athletic.net Descending Order Lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-8 relay teams. The USTFCCCA has been awarding all-region awards since 2015-16.

Graduate student Skyler Mott (Mills Neck, N.Y.) was recognized in both the high jump and triple jump, while classmate Diego Sanabria (San Juan, Puerto Rico) claimed all-region accolades in the javelin. Sophomores Aithan Bezanson (Danvers, Mass.) and Nick Yacoub (Sharon, Mass.) were honored for their success in the decathlon and 10,000 meters, respectively, while classmates Jackson Adams (Norwell, Mass.), Dominic Smith (Aspen, Colo.) and Noa Wong (Kaneohe, Hawaii) joined first-year Cameron Mehallo (Lafayette Hill, Pa.) in earning all-region laurels in the 4x400-meter relay. Mehallo also garnered All-East Region accolades in the 400-meter hurdles and fellow rookie Brady Kirtland (San Diego, Calif.) landed a spot in the 110-meter hurdles.

Mott, who became the Beavers' first NCAA Championships qualifier and NEWMAC champion in the high jump, ranked first in the East Region in the high jump (6-feet, 9.75-inches) and seventh in the triple jump (46-feet, 2.75-inches), recording both of his school record marks at the season-opening Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on March 21. Bezanson came in fourth with his highest score of the season in the decathlon (5776 points) at the Farley Inter Regional at Williams on May 8-9, while Yacoub recorded a personal-best time of 30:14.25 at the same meet to post the region's fifth best time in the 10,000 meters.

Mehallo ranked sixth in the East Region with a school-record time of 53.85 in the 400-meter hurdles achieved on the way to becoming Babson's first NEWMAC champion in the event on April 25. He also teamed with Smith, Wong and Adams to post the sixth fastest time in the region (3:18.66) in the 4x400-meter relay at the Farley Inter Regional.

Kirtland's school-record time of 14.86 in the 110-meter hurdles came at the NEWMAC Championships and ranks eighth in the region, while Sanabria set a new program record with a mark of 184-feet, 7-inches in the javelin to move into eighth place in his final collegiate competition at the MIT Final Qualifier last Thursday.

The Babson men, which placed fourth with their second highest point total in school history at last month's conference championships, will conclude their season on Friday when Mott competes in the high jump at the NCAA Championships in La Crosse, Wis., beginning at 12 p.m. ET.
