Kamal from Women’s Tennis Earns CSC Academic All-District Recognition

BABSON PARK, Mass.— For the second straight year, junior Dana Kamal (Cairo, Egypt) of the Babson College women's tennis program was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team on Tuesday afternoon.

A Finance and Entrepreneurship major, Kamal was a regular in the doubles line-up for the second straight year for the Beavers. She has registered a 15-7 doubles record, including 7-6 in dual matches and 5-0 against New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opponents. She has also gone 8-5 in singles competition, including 3-2 in dual matches and 2-1 against NEWMAC foes.

Kamal was named this year's NEWMAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player earlier this month, helping the Beavers to their first conference championship since 2014 and third in program history. A three-year veteran and two-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar All-America, Kamal has career records of 17-9 in singles and 31-22 in doubles.

Ranked No. 5 in Division III, Babson (18-4) has won its first two NCAA Tournament matches this spring to advance to the national quarterfinals for the first time in program history. The Beavers will take on second-ranked Chicago on May 18 in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Since 1952, CSC has honored more than 40,000 outstanding student-athletes across the NCAA. To be eligible, a tennis student-athlete must maintain a GPA of 3.50 on a 4.0 scale and be in the lineup for 70 percent of an institution's days of competition.
