BABSON PARK, Mass.—Babson College sophomore goalkeeper
Andrew Almquist (Wakefield, Mass.) was named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division III Team of the Week on Tuesday.
Almquist, who was selected for the third time this season, was joined on the NEILA Team of the Week by Nick Graap of Endicott, Drew Fleury of Norwich, Jake Lydon of Rivier, Salve Regina's Luke Castillo, Reece Whitney of Springfield and Western New England's Jacob Roy.
Almquist made two starts posting a 12.17 goals against average and a .604 save percentage while stopping 32 shots and scooping up three ground balls in just over 103 minutes of action. The sophomore goalkeeper made 19 saves, which was just two shy of his career high, in last Tuesday's 17-8 loss to No. 1/1 Tufts. Almquist followed it up by stopping 13 of 17 shots over the first three quarters as the Beavers cruised past Clark, 18-5, last Friday.
A starter in all 15 games this season, Almquist leads the NEWMAC in both goals against average (8.60) and save percentage (.616) as well as total saves (196). He ranks 11th in Division III in save percentage and 34th in goals against average.
No. 5 USILA/No. 9 USA Lacrosse Magazine Babson (13-2, 6-0 NEWMAC) will conclude its regular season on Saturday when it travels to Cambridge to face MIT at 1 p.m.
