No. 5/7 Men's Lacrosse at Clark
Friday, April 17 | 7 p.m.
Granger Field | Worcester, Mass.

SERIES HISTORY

•    Babson is 26-3 all-time against Clark in a series that dates back to 1994.
•    The Beavers have won straight games in the series since 2021 after dropping three of four to the Cougars from 2017-19.
•    The Green and White has won five of its last six games against Clark in Worcester, which includes three consecutive one-goal victories from 2014-18.
•    Babson has won each of the last three games in the series since 2023 by 13 or more goals.

LAST MEETING
•    Junior Sam Sisk led all players with three goals and one assist for four points and senior Luke D'Orsi, junior Seamus Rooney and Justin Greene M'25 each scored twice as the Beavers cruised to a 19-3 win over Clark on April 19, 2025, in Babson Park.
•    D'Orsi, junior Ryan St. Onge and sophomore Mark Brown all finished with two caused turnovers, and sophomore Andrew Almquist stopped five of six shots faced in 16 minutes of action for the Beavers, who scored 19 consecutive goals after falling behind 47 seconds into the contest.
•    Matthew Minkwitz scored twice late in the fourth quarter, Patrick O'Rourke won 6-of-9 face-offs and led all players with five ground balls, and Jack Insalaco and Jacob Wharton both had two caused turnovers for the Cougars, who got seven saves from Casey McCullough.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
•    No. 5 USILA/No. 7 USA Lacrosse Babson (12-2, 5-0 NEWMAC) is looking to bounce back after suffering a 17-8 loss to No. 1/1 Tufts on Tuesday afternoon.
•    Rooney and graduate student Joey Allen both scored twice, senior Bennett Smith dished out three assists and graduate student Beau Burns won 10-of-13 face-offs and led all players with eight ground balls for the Beavers, who got 19 saves from Almquist and were down just 5-4 early in the second quarter before the Jumbos went on a six-goal run to create separation.
•    Smith (20-24-44) ranks second in the NEWMAC in assists and has posted 11 straight multi-point games, Allen (30-13-43) leads the team with 10 man-up goals, senior Braden Reilly (16-21-37) is tied for third in the league in assists and junior Camden Matthews (22-8-30) has nine multi-goal games on the year.
•    Burns ranks fourth in Division III in face-off winning percentage (.744) and is 12th nationally with 123 ground balls, senior Tyee Ambrosh leads the defense with 14 caused turnovers in 24 ground balls, and Almquist ranks second in the conference in both goals against average (8.78) and save percentage (.608) while making a league-best 13.07 saves per game.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
•    Clark (1-12, 0-5 NEWMAC) has dropped two straight games and was defeated by Salve Regina, 18-7, last Saturday in Newport, R.I.
•    Tate Gorman scored three times, Michael Berman Annunziata and Eric Aswad both contributed a goal and two assists, and O'Rourke won 14-of-24 face-offs and picked up six ground balls for the Cougars, who got 13 saves from Luca Palleschi.
•    Annunziatta (18-20-38) has at least three points in five of the last six games, Gorman (16-11-27) has multiple goals in five games and Aswad (14-11-25) has recorded at least one point in 12 straight outings dating back to February 28.
•    O'Rourke has won 55.7 percent of his face-offs while picking up 83 ground balls, Lucas Cuda ranks fourth in the league with 18 caused turnovers and Josh Reno owns a 15.14 goals against average and a .432 save percentage in 11 contests this season.

WHAT'S AT STAKE
•    Babson, which has already secured a conference tournament berth, enters Friday's contest as the only unbeaten team in NEWMAC play and can secure at least a share of its third regular season title in four seasons and fourth since 2021 with a victory over the Cougars.
•    The Beavers, who entered the week ranked third in the Division III NPI rankings, go into the weekend unofficially at No. 6, a point in front of St. John Fisher and just over three-tenths of a point behind Christopher Newport in the computer rankings, which are used to help select and seed the NCAA Tournament.

ALMQUIST NAMED TO USILA TEAM OF THE WEEK
•    After stopping nine of 11 shots for a .818 save percentage in three quarters of action last Saturday against Emerson, Almquist was selected to the USILA Division III Team of the Week for the third time this season on Wednesday.
•    His 19 saves in Tuesday's loss against Tufts were two shy of his career high set back on February 28 in the Beavers' victory over RIT.

CLIMBING THE CHARTS
•    Smith has 99 career assists and needs just one more to join Alex Patinkin '13 (112) and Chris Grant '81 (137) as the only players in school history to surpass 100 assists. His 169 career points also rank sixth in Babson history.
•    Almquist registered his 12th win of the season last Saturday, which ranks third on Babson's single-season list for goalie wins, one behind Will Parducci (2023) and Alex Fascilla (2025), who both finished with 13.
•    Burns has produced 166 face-off wins this year, which rank seventh on the Babson single-season list, and his 123 ground balls are now good for third on single-season chart.
•    Tyee Ambrosh has moved into 17th place on Babson's all-time list with 35 caused turnovers.
•    Rooney has moved up to 13th place on the program's career scoring list with 89 goals, and is also 16th in program history with 132 points.

TRENDS TO WATCH
•    Smith has at least two points in 11 straight and 13 of 14 games this season, and he is the only Beaver who has at least one point in all 14 games.
•    Rooney brings a 31-game point streak into Friday's contest dating back to the opening game of the 2025 campaign.
•    Allen has at least three points in seven of his last eight games and at least one point in 12 of his 13 appearances this spring for the Green and White.
•    Tyee Ambrosh has at least one caused turnover in nine of his last 12 games, including a career -high three forced turnovers versus Bowdoin back in late March.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
•    The Beavers have beaten eight of their first nine unranked opponents by at least 10 goals this season.
•    The Green and White are 12-0 this spring and have won 26 in a row since the start of last year when scoring at least 10 goals.
•    The Beavers are 10-1 this season and 21-3 going back to last spring when holding a lead at halftime.
•    Since the start of the 2024 campaign, Babson is 36-4 when winning at least 50 percent of its face-offs.

UP NEXT
•    Babson will conclude its regular season next Saturday when it travels to Cambridge to face MIT at 1 p.m.
