No. 20 Men's Golf Ends Regular Season by Winning the Farmingdale State Invitational

Four Beavers Post Top-15 Finishes as they Hold Off Late Surge by Amherst

FARMINGDALE, N.Y.—Senior Colin Fowler (Portland, Ore.) posted one of the best rounds of the day with a 1-over 71 as the 20th-ranked Babson College men's golf team battled rain and wind to record a four-shot victory at the Farmingdale State Invitational on Sunday afternoon on the Red Course at Bethpage State Park.

The Beavers shot a 12-over 292 in round two and recorded a 36-hole total of 5-over 565 to finish three shots clear of Amherst (568), which briefly led late in Sunday's round. Bowdoin and Farmingdale State tied for third at 13-over 573, while NYU rounded out the top five at 15-over 575.

Fowler made two birdies and three bogeys to tie for third on the individual leaderboard along with sophomore teammate Howie Poon (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) with an even-par total of 140 for the tournament. Poon, who shot a career-best 66 in Saturday's first round, made a pair of late birdies to card a 4-over 74 on the way to registering his first career top-five finish.

Sophomore Chad Tordone (Barnstable, Mass.) and classmate Aman Vantipalli (Alpharetta, Ga.) finished in a tie for 13th position at 2-over 142. Tordone fired a career-best 65 to grab a one-stroke lead after Saturday's first round before carding a 7-over 77 on Sunday, while Vantipalli backed up his first round 68 with a 74 that included a pair of birdies on day two.

Junior Jack Berry (Western Springs, Ill.) and senior Shane Quinn (Morristown, N.J.) finished in a tie for 23rd place at 5-over after shooting 73 and 74, respectively, in the final round. Berry played his final 10 holes in 1-under, while Quinn was even through 10 before making three bogeys over his final eight holes.

Babson concluded its regular season on Sunday and now must wait until May to see if it receives an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
